Weird Headache

So, here's the deal. Wednesday night I go to bed with a mild headache that slowly materialized late in the evening, not a particularly painful one, but what was odd was right around when I was getting into bed I had a dizzy spell, and then woke up once or twice feeling dizzy, kind of a vertigo sensation due to being only half-awake. Then when I woke up to go to school thursday/yesterday, I had a worse headache. But... as soon as I got outside my apartment within 5 minutes my head ache was virtually gone. But when I came home from school, within about 3-4 hours of being in my apartment the headache returned, though not the dizziness. This morning, again I woke up still with a headache, which woke me up a few times, but still not agonizingly painful. And again it went away after leaving my apartment, though I had that unpleasant "just got over a bad head-ache" tenderness in my head up until coming home again. At this point it's obvious the headache is being caused by something in my apartment. At first I thought I wasn't getting proper ventilation in my room, as I have weather stripping on the front door for sound insulation, but it also blocks air-flow, and the vent in my washroom is also blocked because some douchebag's cigarette smoke keeps getting into my room through it, and finally I've had my windows closed for the last 2 days or so because of the weather becoming colder. Wednesday I spent over 12 hours in my apartment with no airflow or ventilation. But since getting back from school I've aired out my apartment, left the windows open, and unblocked the vent in the washroom, but still have the headache.

As far as toxins, I can't smell anything, and considering the lack of ways for air to get into my room, I'm doubtful this would be the cause. I've never had this happen before and I'm not prone to being sensitive to weather or air-pressure changes. The only other thing I can think of is that it may be connected to the roof repair being done to the building. I live on the 17th floor of a 19 floor building, and the roof began it's re-tarring in the last few days, but again I haven't smelled anything and the only way in would be through my windows, which have been closed. The peculiar thing about this is the suddenness of the affliction. I can't figure it out.

I've already notified the resident manager, and he's suggested I let him know on monday if I'm still feeling odd, as the roofing is on hold over the weekend, though if it is the tar or some chemical they're using, the fumes for that stuff takes more than 2 days to dissipate. I think I'll check with other residents to see if anyone else is feeling peculiar. If I still have the headache tomorrow or feel weird, I'm going to have to see if I can get a inspection done.

Anyway, sorry for the length of the post, but I thought I'd be thorough.

P.S. I hate apartments.

Yeah, environmental toxins can be weird. Just because you don't smell anything doesn't mean it's not in the air; a lot of toxic chemicals are odorless. It sounds like you might have it figured out already, I'm not sure there's much else to be said. Any chance you could stay at a friend's house for a few days?

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

the "no true scotch man" fallacy.

Check for fungus. Fungus can grow behind the paint in apartments some times. It's always worth a check, becuase if left uncontrolled many fungi can become deadly. As for now, stay out of your apartment, sleep somewhere else if you can. it's definitely not good to stay there right now, be safe. But yes, for sure for sure get someone in there to check.

(oh, I just read Feral's post, he's right, stay somewhere else)
