Okay, so my wife got sent to a conference in Seattle and I tagged along since her work is playing for it. Holy shit there is like fifty million things here and they are all awesome.
Which makes me sad, we currently live in York, PA. The big thing there is a Harley Plant it is the only reason anyone comes there. The locals have no motivation to improve the area and actual oppose people who make an effort to do so. They just got a Starbucks and a Best Buy, both of which were opposed by the community even though there's no local business they'd be driving out. There is only a like 2 small family owned restaurants that serve ethnic food. I can't wait til next June when I blow out of here.
So who else here lives in backass hick towns?
Also, I visited Pike St. Market, and am about to head out to the Seattle Center. What else should I do in between conference events while I'm in Seattle for the next 2 days? I want to enjoy civilization while I can, though it will make York seem even more desolate.
Specifically one Thai restaurant and one Japanese restaurant. There are a bunch of shitty Chinese places, but they are all run by white rednecks so I don't count them. All the other restaurants are either chains like TGIFridays or Applebees, pizza places or low quality diners.

Haha, yes, our city is awesome except for having the worst transportation infrastructure in the world.
No that would be my town. Like 3 mass transit systems, none of them connect. All aborted fetuses of the 70's and 80's.
They USED to have one of the best transit systems, but the power company bought and ripped up all the streetcar lines in the 70's for no real apparent reason.

True, but Fridays should not be considered the top end of restaurants for an area. Many people here consider it fine dining.

i consider chain restaurants such as Applebees and Fridays to be a step above a regular diner
the food is not much better and is bland but filling
In my town, the only things to do are:
A) Go to the town diner, which is aptly named "The B'ville Diner." Go to the $3 movie theater.
a terrifying mirror of my own hamlet
fortunately i live only an hour away from New York City
My town's maybe ten minutes away from Syracuse.
There's stuff to do there, but hell if I can get into Syracuse more than twice a month to get my comics.
Oh, my theater isn't poor. It costs $3 because it gets movies after they've left the big theaters, and they get steady traffic from the locals. It's perfect for movies that you think "I want to see that, but not for $9," especially stupid action movies like Die Hard 4.
You can get 3 people in, and buy 2 medium popcorns and 2 medium drinks for under $15.
Boston is a pretty awesome place to live. Especially Coolidge Corner. Assuming you ignore the extreme paranoia and tendency of overreaction of our city's cops.

I'm looking at going to BU after I graduate. Good idea y/n?

Yes. Though I suppose it depends on which subject.
I go there now for my M.A. in history.
But whatever you do, do not live in a place that you need to rely on the B Line for transportation. Oh God help you. It will take 5 years to go three blocks. Live in Brookline Village or Coolidge Corner.
I live in a town, but it's not like those shitholes in rural area's, because it's in a rather densely populated area, and the city of haarlem is 20 minutes away by bike and amsterdam is 30 minutes with the train.

The taxi guy that took Me, and Keith to meet with Jordyn at PAX was telling us all about it, and the poor planning that went into the monorail expansion.
Also, I'm two hours south of Orlando, two and a half (or so) from Tampa, and about an hour from West Palm Beach. So, while my town sucks, I'm in range of several that don't.

If this wasn't the case I don't know how I would live. Burlington is the only place in Vermont that isn't a cultural void.
That means you don't need ketchup.

If you can find anything to do here besides go to shifty restaraunts or shitty bars, then you're a better man then I.

It's got a mall, and a pretty kick ass movie theater. Other than that though, it's a horrible, horrible place to grow up.
The main industry in Joplin is used cars. I swear to christ I've never seen a city with more used car lots.
So, I moved. I like where I live now.
So basically it's awesome
