ok, this is me asking for some help. I am being tasked to come up with a name for a medical program. This medical program is being used to have all the medical files of patients from the hospital on file as opposed to always in a physical folder. Such as using a laptop or computer in the office to load up the patients' file.
I am being tasked to come up with a name for it, with there being a reward for the person who comes up with the best one. It's a good reward too, hence my bother to ask the help of you fine folks!
It's a hospital based in Vermont. Any creative input would be vastly appreciated.
Anyway, these sorts of things normally have dull names like PatientConnect or whatever, don't they? (I made that up, but look! It already exists.) I guess if they're running a competition they're after something cleverer, so a nifty acronym indeed probably is in order.
Remember, when said as the full name instead of the acronym it's perfectly normal to add words such as "and" in between the words that are covered by the acronym.
For real help, though, while I don't have a specific suggestion you might look for medical terms, internal organs, or the like which are short and easy to spell that you can turn into an acronym.

That suggests that at one point or another the patient was in more than one piece.

It could be HELPR. You'd pronounce it the same, and then you wouldn't have to worry about the extra E.
Electronic Record Retrieval Service- ERRS not as good as HELPR, but still, a name, and obvious.
Automated Patient History Archive- APHA kinda catchy...
sweet, the more the merrier. I can only put in 3 choices, but the more good ones I hear the better. Thanks already and thanks in advance if ya'll think of more.
I have found that when it comes to application system names, people are most comfortable with (a) simple nouns with no connection to to the subject, or (b) simple acronyms that HAPPEN to be pronounceable, but aren't real words.
Taking approach (a), just take any old noun and throw words around it. "Lotus Records" (everyone will call it Lotus). Words with no negative connotations are best here, like: "Daisy", "Venus", "Robin", "Eagle", "Cloud", "Blue", etc. "EAGLE Patient Record Management" could be the official name, everyone will call it Eagle, but Eagle doesn't have to stand for anything.
Taking approach (b), some very simple acronym might work. e-PID (Patient Information Database), etc.
I would go down one of those two paths.

most excellent and very logical. I think since I get 3 entries, I will do 2 of one type and 1 of the other. Now to widdle it down. I think the ALPHA and HELPER (the other E could be "extended") are excellent ones to go with. Now to think of another, but perhaps this time name it after something nice and pleasant to hear which might not mean anything.

Pronounced "em arr ess".
Rock Band DLC | GW:OttW - arrcd | WLD - Thortar
K-9
System for Categorizing And Transfering Medical Awareness Notes (or SCATMAN)
Automated Lifetime Patient History Archive - ALPHA (which is more catchy, and comes with a cool greek symbol for free )
True story.
That sounds perfect to me.
