If you're a car designer, it would have to cross your mind that eventually one of your cars will be crashed. And from that interview, they will learn what they can from it and go on from there. Even if it was driver error, there is still tons of data and information to take and consider for the future.
The new Top Gear America aired on BBC America tonight. I'm not going to come to any conclusion after one episode, but I'm willing to give it a few more weeks. I know Tom Ford from Fifth Gear, and he did fine and felt/acted the most natural, but Antron Brown has a long, long way to go. William Fichtner falls somewhere in the middle.

Thats funny because I had the exact opposite opinion.
Antron seemed the most natural and comfortable, and Ford seemed a bit stiff and uncomfortable, Fichtner felt a little rigid too. i figure they'll get more comfortable about half way through the season.
Did anyone watch the full season of American Top Gear? It didn't pass my three episode test.
I watched the entire season.
It has potential, more potential than the old version did (Though I wish they'd had kept Rutledge Wood).
Biggest gripe is they are kind of stiff and reliant on scripting to much cause they dont have the interpersonal relationships built up between the actors to have good, natural dialog. Also the lingering specter of it being full of commercials which will invariably affect reviews (I dont think I heard one seriously negative comment the entire season)
The American is out. No word on which racial stereotype is setting track times now.

Going to see an early screening of the first episode of the Grand Tour on Saturday, followed by the italian job, playing at a drive in theater. Really excited to see it, TG and now TGR are high on list of favorite shows ever.
They should probably get rid of the test track entirely, if I'm being honest.
It worked for TG. Not so much for the show they're doing now.
It was also a race track on TG.
What they had in s1 of GT was more of a drift track, and that's all well and good but personally I didn't think it had much to show with regards to the performance of the vehicles.
Celebrity Brain Crash is out. Celebrity guests will still be on the show but if they die it won't be staged but cause Clarkson came up with done stupid thing for them to do.
So far I like their replacement for celebrity brain-crash.
E: this episode felt markedly more like Top Gear than Grand Tour, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Maybe other episodes will distinguish it a bit more.
I suck at comprehensive OPs for Debate and/or Discourse, but I would recommend the new thread have the title The Top Grand Gear Tour: A Thread on British Motoring with an Occasional American

rather fitting song
And then I remind myself yet again I need to use Amazon more than just for this show.
I don't think I made it past the first segment.

Guess I'm turning my Prime sub back on in December.

I am curious what he thought a character called the American would develop into.
clearly a George Clooney type.
Oh thank god. By far the worst element of the show.
Over scripting was the second worst.

I was thinking more Steel/Fighting type, myself….

In the clips it's his usual unkempt, mid-length style, but between then and the studio he's had a serious trim and I'm not a fan of it.
