Simple Excel issue, I hope [SOLVED]

If I open Excel and type "1 - 9" (no quotes), Excel will autocorrect it to 1/9/2007. If anyone can tell me how to force Excel to leave my data alone so that I don't have to punch my monitor in rage, I would appreciate it greatly.

Okay, I figured it out. You just have to format as text.

If you want the cell to display is as "1-9" (w/o quotes), the you need to type the following into the cell:

    '1-9

the ' tells excel not to look at the data for formula purposes.

/or format as text - that works too. icon_mrgreen.gif
