Madden '08 Question

Just tossing out a quick question here...
The last Madden game I owned was '04 on the PC. It had a control scheme where you played the "Coach"...you selected the play on every down and the AI would handle the rest. You never directly controlled any of the players.
Does that still exist in the current version? My wife has dropped some hints about gaming with me, but she doesn't want something too complex (like your usual control scheme for just about any game). I know she's into football (Colts fan)...so this would be an easy way to get her into something. I could break out the old game, but I figured I'd see if the current one has this first, as something more up to date would be more appealing.

Don't have '08. As of '07 this was still an option.
EDIT: Not entirely helpful since you were asking about '08, but I honestly doubt they'd have pulled it out since last year. I'm sure somebody else who actually has '08 will be along shortly.

I now proclaim Madden to be the standard by which all other football games are to be measured, and mock you from the safety of distant anonymity for insinuating otherwise.

Not that I know of...it was still in '07, and I thought that came after the bad coaching game.
I don't know that it was called a "coaching mode" or anything, but I know you play by simply selecting plays and letting the AI do the grunt work. Then just focus on your roster and what not.
I guess it's possible they axed it for '08, but like I said I doubt it. I'd just do some googling about '08, or maybe check gamefaqs, if nobody here can answer. Poke around enough and you should see mention of this mode, to verify that it is there.
