I just bought a VGA cord to play my Xbox 360 on my 22" Chimei LCD in my room. I also have a Creative 5200 5.1 system for the computer in the room. I bought this 3rd party cable on eBay.
Which is bullshit in itself. From the photos and description it seems to be an official cable. However it isn't. It is a " x-360" cable. I guess a cable is a cable though right?
ANYWAY. Stupidly, I bought the ones with RCA jacks or whatever they are called. So I have no way of getting sound unless I drag a TV over. Which defeats the purpose. What is the cheapest easiest way to fix this? A converter or some sort? Cheers.
PS: decided to not go the 5.1 route unless it is cheaper.
no... 1/8" I think. 1/4" is a guitar lead size? I want a 1/8" I am pretty sure... Like a headphone jack.
Yeah im stupid. Thats what i ment to say. But yeah... you can get those pretty damn cheap. I think i have about 5 of them sitting around here somewhere.
I too bought a 3rd party VGA cable that didn't come with an RCA to Minijack converter. Trouble is, at least for me, these things are a pain in the ass to find. I also had to buy a seperate gender changer.
The amount of money you purchase getting the stuff you need for the 3rd party VGA cable kind of makes buying a 3rd party cable pointless. If you're thinking of getting one. Don't buy 3rd party! You'll save yourself money and time.

Really? Do you have a Radio Shack near you? They overcharge, but have them in abundance. I personally have multiple RCA->1/8" and 1/8" gender changers just sitting around my house.
Unfortunately, Radio Shack doesn't grace the presence of the UK.
I opted for the VGA cable because I didn't want to be stuck in SD, but wanted it cheap. Unfortunately, I was attracted to the cheaper price tag of £10 for a 3rd party cable. Big mistake. :P
That just goes to show how badly Microsoft overcharge. AUS$24 compared to AUS$70 (that meant to mean Australian dollar if that didnt make sense). That's a huge gap where price is concerned. Microsoft need to do something about that.

As an aside, how well does the cheap-o cable work?
Thanks guys! consider this solved. I will get a RCA mini jack today.

Meh, I suppose they have to make money somehow. And I suppose quite a bit of it gets plowed back into the gaming division.
