Broken Xbox, Should I...

Should I ever try to induce the red ring of death so I can get a free repair, or would that somehow void my warranty. How long is the warranty for Xboxes? Is there any chance I can get this back by Christmas if I send it in tommorow? Thanks

    Explain.

My disk tray stopped working right, then games didn't load, then I got the red rings. Sent it off 4 days ago.

So um, just keep trying to get it to work and see if the red rings pop up.

Well the problem is that when I pop in just about every one of my games, the screen messes up and displays really blocky white lines, and the xbox screeches. It doesn't display red rings though, which is confusing since there is obviously a hardware failure. I heard that the red rings get repaired for free, so i was wondering if i should wrap the xbox in a towel or something to try and get those red rings coming so i can repair for free.

I just called them and told them my disk drive quit working and they sent me a box. Is it supposed to have the RRoD before ask them to repair it?

I did my replacement all online. Didnt talk to one cold human soul.
My games kept freezing but I never got to the red ring part.
Returned it anyways, nobody seemed to care. I am playing on a replaced xbox now. Thank you MS.
