Okay I got one. This was a top down game for NES and the screen moved you along. The game was also two players. You and a friend played as a guy on a motorcycle. The bike had machine guns and all kinds of upgrades. There was no saving and no levels perse. After you defeat a boss (Which were fucking hard as I recal) you would continue on your way. Moving through a city. The screen moved from top to bottom. I wish I could be more helpful with my description, but if you guys figure it out than I shall give you the Sun and it could be called "The Carl".
I remember this game from the arcades. Don't remember the name either.
This had me stumped for a while, because I kept thinking it was Mach Rider, which is a fairly well known NES combat motorcycle game, except that game's perspective is from behind the rider.
Trying to remember the name of an old arcade game.
It was a top down shooter
You controlled a high-tech tank that could flip from side to side as well as boost the front end up to fire like an arcing shot with an AoE instead of straight ahead.
I remember some levels containing platforms that would boost your tank into the air allowing you to lay down multiple shells across the screen.
The most unique thing I remember was the game had a two stick control scheme (similar to Virtual On).

OK guys, here's a tougher one. This was a stumper a month ago:
Back in the way old days of PCs, I got a 3.5" floppy with a game on it with my IBM PS/2 Model 30. It would have been a DOS game, obviously. From what I remember it was a platformer, with levels that looked a bit like Lode Runner. You played a character that reminded me of QBert, some sort of round creature and I think it also had a big nose. It was all in monochrome, as well, if that helps... at least, it only ran in mono on my MCGA card. I want to say the name began with "F", but I'm not sure.
What ever it was, it was a fun game and I played the hell out of it. Any ideas?

Excellent! That's it! Copyright IBM, which makes perfect sense. But sadly I see I was missing out on its lifelike color graphics. Ah, the joys of PC gaming in the 80's.

But I think the correct answer is actually this:
Thundercade
If it's not Thundercade, I'm stumped again.
Nope that ain't it. In game I am thinking of the bikes were smaller and the game had better graphics. Well slightly better anyway. Most of the enemies were in vehicles, if not all of them. Hm, this one has been bothering me for a number of years now.
If it helps I remember one of the bosses, I think maybe the very first, was a battleship.
Axen on
A Capellan's favorite sheath for any blade is your back.

The first boss of Thundercade is a the top of a submarine:
I'll keep thinking on this one.. I really thought it was Thundercade.. damn.. hm..
Nope, all I can think of are Thundercade, Mach Rider, and Seicross. The latter two don't fit the bill, and apparently the former, Thundercade, is incorrect. I'm completely stumped. I thought it was Thundercade because it's a forcedscrolling vertical motorcycle shooter in which you have a machine gun and upgrades to the thing and it didn't have levels per se and you just kept moving after you were done with a boss, the first of which is the top of a sub which is kinda close to a battleship.
There were other versions, though:
But the only one on the nes is the one I already showed you.

I'm on a pretty good roll tonight. :P
Although I'm curious to see if Thundercade was what Axen was asking about.

Looks like Lode Runner, starts with F:

Man... what are some obscure games that I can't remember...?
Only thing that comes to mind right now is Time Soldiers.
