Arkadian Warrior & Gripshift on XBLA this week

I thought this was worth a heads up. This week's XBLA is full awesome since we're getting both Gripshift & Arkadian Warrior for 800 MS Points ($10 US) a piece. Gripshift is apparently a really fun platformer/racing game from the PSP and Arkadian Warrior looks like a fun little Hack & Slash RPG Lite.

Prepare for an action-packed dungeon crawl with Sierra Online's "Arkadian Warriors" and experience the innovative cross genre gameplay of "GripShift®," by Sidhe Interactive, this week on Xbox LIVE Arcade. Both games launch on Wednesday, December 12th, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. GMT (2:00 a.m. PST).

Three heroic shape-shifting warriors fight to release the Land of Arkadia from the evil Gorgon's stony gaze. In the uniquely expansive "Arkadian Warriors," randomly generated dungeons and cooperative multiplayer hack & slash action enhances a deep single-player campaign. The robust cooperative multiplayer mode is available for two players both locally and over Xbox LIVE. Upgrading is key as players hone their skills, acquire loot and master powerful magic spells and numerous deadly weapons in a journey of mythical proportions. "Arkadian Warriors" will be available worldwide for 800 Microsoft Points and is rated E10+ by the ESRB.

Developed by Sidhe Interactive, "GripShift" is a gravity-defying thrill ride every racing fan must experience! I've heard bad things about Arkadian but I'm still interested in giving it a try. Gripshift I've heard from PSP owners is a blast, although platforming is not my thing.

Whoa, Gripshift? Really? The full game?

I didn't even know it was coming to XBLA. :o

Might be worth it for $10. How long is it, for those of you that played it on the PSP?

Does anyone know if Arkadian Warriors has any real RPG elements? The xbox.com listing just describes it as a co-op action game. I might be interested if I could actually level up/upgrade equipment.

I was fooled into buying Band of Bugs because I thought it might actually be a real strategy RPG. Shame on me.

Action/RPG with a level 20 cap and equipment and such... so yea.

Arkadian Warriors actually sounds interesting -- very Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance–ish. I'll have to try the demo, but having some mindless hack-and-slash with Live co-op would be tasty indeed.

And I've always been half-tempted to pick up Gripshift, but I'd likely spring for the PSP version instead. This is the game that's not a racing game, but actually a platformer where you happen to play as a car, right?

Yeah, I'm a little surprised it's taken so long to get a Hack & Slash/RPG for XBLA - it seems like it'd be a natural fit. And I've only heard good things about Gripshift so I'm way excited to give it a try. I did like Sonic R after all...

I am very much looking forward to Arkadian Warriors, cause I am a huge whore for hack&slash rpgs and co-op makes me extra excited about this.
Also it having randomized dungeons is probably the best news I read today.
Can't wait to try the demo!

Hm...I just checked out the videos for Arkadian Warrior. They worry me. Maybe it's just the person playing (wouldn't be the first time someone inept was playing for a video), but the gameplay seemed really simplistic and clunky. Oh well, I'll give the demo a try on Wednesday and see for myself.

GripShift is awesome and everyone should buy it. I've harped on and on about it in the past, but it really is a fun game.

About six months ago I had to sell my PSP to pay PSRent, so it'll be nice to be able to play GripShift again now that it's on XBLA.

I'm a little unhappy that there hasn't been mention of the map editor at all, since the PS3 version didn't ship with one. It was probably the coolest part of the PSP version. The map editor that shipped with the game was the one that the devs used to build all of the levels, and it was easy as hell to work with. The Xbox.com page for it mentions content download, which is cool, but I want to make my own stuff.

I've got 800 points saved for it.

Sluggish gameplay in a Diablo clone is a pretty serious problem. That really does not look good at all. :|

Is this the same GripShift that has been on PSN for PS3 for months? If so I played the demo and thought it was ok, but never thought to buy the full version.. should I reconsider?

i was just saying to my buddy how i was thinking of getting the LOTR games for some hack and slash fun, Arkadian Warriors just might be able to fill the void instead.

i'll be checking the demo for sure, but yeah, sounds fun.

If Arkadian Warrior plays well, I think I'll easily be buying that. Co-op hack & slash? Sounds good to me. Gripshift could be good fun too, so I may well end up with both of these.

Tried the Arcadian Warrior demo and it delivered as promised: a solid light hack & slash RPG. I can't imagine it being too exciting as a 1 player game, but as an easy pick up and play co-op game it looks like it'd be pretty fun. Since my 7 year old daughter loves Titan Quest (yeah, bizarre isn't it?), I think I might pick it up for some co-op fun.

Haven't tried Gripshift yet (still downloading), but the trailer made the game look like a lot of fun.

Didn't really take to either of these games. AW seems kinda fun with friends, but it already wore thin for me after 10 minutes of singleplayer. It has zero depth... I wasn't expecting Diablo 2 here, but it really is just a button masher. Gripshift... meh, I am just not really a fan of racing games at all. Some people may like it.

Tried Gripshift. I loved it. It really is a unique blend of racing games & puzzle games: trying to figure out weird ways to cheat the tracks.

    Probably offtopic but never mind

Gripshift is utterly awesome. Buy it now. Its great fun, well worth 800 points. Hell, I like it better than other full priced games.

And I just unlocked the temple of doom achievement which took a few attempts...

Gripshift is 57 varieties of awesome. Deathmatch is hands down much better than anything in any Mario Kart Battle mode.
