Same reason that the PS2 is still dominating playtime - a higher install base and more purchased titles. What's surprising to me is that the Wii, which has an install base competitive with the 360, is getting less than half the playtime. I guess it's either that it's more casual and infrequent play or else it just doesn't have a lot of good titles.

So I'm home, waiting for my French Chicken-in-a-Pot (poulet en cocette) to be done in a few hours. All snowed in with a bunch of movies to watch and a few vidja games to play. Life is good.

At least until I have to walk the dog.

We just call chicken pot pie here in the south. You northerners always have to complicate things.

Now I love chicken pot pie, but this isn't the same thing. It's basically just:

    1) Put chicken in pot.
    2) Cover securely (with lid and foil if available)
    3) Cook at 250 degrees for around two hours

You can add a few veggies and brown the chicken first if you want, but it's not completely necessary. It's like the simplest delicious recipe I know.

Man I hesitated for thirty seconds on whether or not I should add a :P to my post.

    Interesting recipe though.

Wait a minute, is there water in this pot? Are you stewing or baking the chicken? And the idea of unseasoned cooked chicken seems rather repulsive. It'd be so bland, and if you didn't get fresh chicken, you'd taste the meat-stinkiness too...

It's a basically dry pot. I'm not sure what the term is for this kind of cooking (with liquid it would be called braising). You can put a little salt and pepper on the chicken before throwing it in the oven, but basically the idea is that all the flavor and aroma stays confined in the pot and goes back into the chicken.

I was playing Syndicate last night, unleashing death and destruction with my 4 minigun-wielding agents and it occurred to me that a fully 3d Syndicate game (not faked isometric) with fully destructable environments, flocks of civilians and the same amounts of brutal violence would sell like hotcakes. Then the idea of a fully-realised multiplayer Syndicate popped into my head and I nearly cried.

Bullfrog made some incredible games. It's a shame they got folded into EA like that.
