    what im saying is a shitty three bedroom in a neighborhood that won't get us stabbed will cost us like 1.7-2 grand a month realistically

    Pretty typical anywhere in the city unless you want to live in the fucking slums. Right now Morningside/Harlem is seeing a lot of gentrification, though the areas are still ass. It is pretty typical to see a basement studio apartment that is about 230 to 400sqft go for about 800+ a month. And that is places like astoria, not even in NYC itself.

    It's still all up in the air but in a perfect world we'd like williamsburg or park slope. Fat chance of that, though.

    Maybe Bay Ridge. I'm not a fan of Queens.
