Need some advice

I'm still new to Photoshop, I need some advice.

In this one, I was just playing around with light and shadows.

This one (below) started out as me just playing around, but I decided to scan and color it. I intentionally left the pencil lines and stuff in, 'cause I thought the "sketchy" look was cool.

I know I still have a lot to learn, constructive criticism is appreciated. Thanks!

    In the first one, the shadows and light on the ear look like they are coming from the opposite direction of the legs and body.
