So my recently-acquired XBox has been freezing when playing Mass Effect, and only Mass Effect. It's well-ventilated, tried exchanging it in for a new game disc, blah blah blah, nothing helps. Running through the possible fixes that the 360 support site has, I've tried everything except for changing the XBox to Pal-60 from Pal-50. It instructs me to:
1. Turn off the Xbox 360 console.
2. Find the HDTV switch on the AV Connector, and then set the switch to TV.
3. Turn on the Xbox 360 console.
4. In the Xbox Dashboard, select System, and then press the A button.
5. Select Console Settings, and then press the A button.
6. Select Display, and then press the A button.
7. Select PAL settings, and then press the A button.
8. Select PAL-60, and then press the A button.
9. When you are prompted to keep these new settings, confirm the settings, and then press the A button.
10. Turn off the Xbox 360 console.
11. Set the HDTV switch on the AV Connector to HDTV.
However, under Display, there is no PAL settings. There is HDTV settings, screen format, and black level. That's it. Nothing else. Anyone know what the problem is, and how I change the PAL settings? Or if this even affects Mass Effect?
Just throwing in a bit more information here. I have one of the newest edition Xbox 360s with the HDMI ports, I also do not have a PAL setting. Also, you may consider trying this. Remove your data storage device (hard drive or memory stick.) then play the game for a while and see if it crashes. If this solves your problem, the issue is in your save data, this happened to me before, as soon as I wiped the save data completly and started a new game the problem stoped.
I'm going to assume that it's because you're not using standard def, and thus PAL/NTSC output is no longer an issue - Each format had different resolutions and refresh rates.

I've tried everything on the xbox support site except for the PAL thing, hence why I'm asking about PAL and not about other means of solving the fix.
Mass Effect is fun, but I don't know if it's fun enough to justify sending the XBox in. I might just trade it in for a different game at this point.
