Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Young King and the Promised Land is one of the few titles we know about coming to Wii via the online Wii Ware service. Finally, some screen shots!
More images here.
The screens don't reveal a whole lot about how the game will play if you don't speak Japanese, but it would appear a number of Final Fantasy staples will be making it in, along with some degree of character customization.
Most of all this is the first game to show what Wii Ware can do, and confirm that developers do have full access to the Wii's hardware for these downloadable games. I think this also gives us hope of being able to download game demos in the future, when Nintendo has some kind of storage solution in place. Speaking of which, this game looks to me like it will eat up a fair amount of space... Perhaps when this game hits, Nintendo will finally get around to offering up that storage solution? Who knows, I guess.
I am pretty excited for this game, hopefully it is just as fun as Crystal Chronicles was on Gamecube.

I really like the Crystal Chronicles universe, it is almost homicidally charming. Crystal Chronicles was the best co-op hack n slash I have played since Gauntlet.

To be honest, these and the Ivalice Moogles are the only ones are like the others are so... bland.

I really dislike pretty much everything I have seen about this game.
Either you have very bad friends or you have no soul. I was going to say both was possible, but having a soul AND friends doesn't make much sense.
There were pretty decent screenshots before, not as good, but good.
October 29.
Not that it matters. I'm just bored.

Indeed. And whoa, it's a step up from FFCC already. *impressed*
It's still around I think, though I've heard reports of it being in limbo. Crystal Bearers, right? Anyways, the trailer video looked awesome for it.
I was disappointed by the simple fighting system, the lack of an interesting magic system, the few weapons and armor available, the underdeveloped story (which had big potential) and ultimately; the multiplayer. Our run-through of the game became after the first two dungeons "press attack button rythmically three times, defend or run away, perhaps use a spell together, rinse and repeat."
Shining Soul, the sucky first one- not the second good one, had more depth in items/story and more dynamic battles. And Shining Soul wasn't a good game.
Our solution to the 'bucket' matter (the thing that keeps the miasma out) was to declare the person closest to it when the last enemy was killed had to pick it up and be the 'bucket bitch' until the next fight.
Some battles would end in a way where everyone was as far away from the bucket as possible, and of course if one person was getting tired of carrying it, they'd often solve that problem by walking in the opposite direction as the person they were peeved at.
If Crystal Chronicles had the ability to screw each other over like Four Swords did, we probably would have never finished it. Never beat Four Swords due to the hatred and violence that always came about after a while =/
Edit: Lack of interesting magic? Game had a magic fusing system. Big booms combining proper spells with others. We were a big fan of conjuring up the -AGA spells.

Still no more than a teaser lacking any real gameplay but hot damn you can count me as well teased.
Is the DS version of CC still being made? The idea is really good and I do want to see them correct their past mistakes.
Out in Japan, possibly March for US and EU.
The reports of the local co-op make me very excited. Let's hope they don't shit it up like they did for Children of Mana.
Latest Nintendo Power gave it 7/10, taking off points for moronic partner AI, fustrating controls (switching between buttons and stylus), a cluttered touch screen ("an overflow area for all the convoluted commands that couldn't be assigned to a button") and a confusing (and largely unnecessary) weapon/equipment creation system. Co-op is basically only useful for eliminating the AI problem and creating bigger spell combos (and tougher monsters).
I can confirm that the DS version is a very fun multiplayer game. And yes, in single-player mode, the AI is moronic and the controls frustrating. Still, an excellent hack&slash. In MP, there's no story, you just go from dungeon to dungeon, forge items, upgrade your gear, beat up enemies and there's friendly fire. Also, your character has visual customisation: what you see is what you wear. And every race has major differences in play, much more than in the GCN version.
A funny thing is that MP is sequence-breaking: In the first dungeon (SP story mode), you only have access to a Clavat, and you need to solve a few puzzles (put ball A into slot B to open door C) to reach some higher points. When I brought a double-jumping Selkie to this dungeon in MP (because in MP you create custom characters, in SP you use the storyline ones), I just jumped on my friend's head then double-jumped my way to the door (and the chests which I hogged).
In summary: FFCC:RoF on DS is awesome and you should buy it.
Hang on, are you saying that we won't be able to work through the plot together in multi-player?
I want to do the whole thing co-op goddamnit! Mrs Jam proabably won't play if she also has to put in single player time. This is the same screw up that ruined Children of Mana.

I remember hearing something once about WiiWare games being stored in a compressed format and then being uncompressed on-the-fly. Plus, it's a no-brainer that Nintendo will eventually either let us play games off of SD cards and/or release some form of hard drive attachment.
They're seriously looking better and looks much more fun than most retail Wii games.
Some WiiWare stuffs coming up in the future:

It's not exactly that. You don't need to invest time in SP at all if you don't want to.
In SP, I'm at about dungeon 5 or 6. They're done in a certain order, chained together by a linear storyline. If I play MP with a friend and start a game, we'll start in town. Then, we'll go to the first dungeon. Then town, then second dungeon, etc. It's the same game, except the storyline isn't there. It basically turn the normal, single-player game into a multiplayer dungeon-crawler. It's actually very cool.
I don't know if it's like that for the entire game, because I didn't get very far in MP (or SP, I guess). If you only play MP, it's a dungeon-crawler, and since the story elements are gone, you won't get the story spoiled if you are farther in the game on your MP file than on your SP file. This said, you'll still have the dungeon layout and dungeon boss spoiled for you.
This looks sweet. Fuck teaser shit. I hate seeing something then not being able to buy/use it. Damn you flying cars and World of Goo
