-As far as I know you can only activate one account on 5 PS3's at a time. Meaning 5 people, not 6.

-You can only use content that has been downloaded from someone else's account as long as you still have that account activated on your system.

-There is literally no possible way to deactivate your account from someone else's system. They must do it for you. Sony customer service can't even do it for you. So if you wind up with a deadbeat who doesn't share anything back, that guy is on your account until he decides to deactivate it. So make sure you trust whoever is getting your account info, because they are getting the ability to purchase stuff with your credit card (if it is tied to your account).

-Giving your account info out allows people to log in under your name in games like Resistance and Warhawk. Just throwing that in there.

-You might want to get mod approval for this.

Basically what it boils down to is, it won't work like a trade setup. I couldn't give you SSHD and get flow from you, then we deactivate each others' account. In order to continue to play those games we would need to keep the accounts activated. So while you can't set up trades, you can set up sharing groups of 5 people each.

My clan has been doing this for a year now, and it works very well as long as everyone involved is active in the share process. We've had a couple of bad apples - one guy downloaded a couple games, and has two other member's accounts activated, but they never got his info and he won't respond to deactivate their accounts. Another guy's PS3 died, meaning he is permanently unable to deactivate the accounts that were on it.

And then the last thing is, I have not found out if you are limited to 5 downloads total, or simply 5 activated accounts. If it's 5 downloads total, and you share something to 4 people, and your PS3 dies, you're fucked and will have to buy all of your content again.

I knew it was too good to be true. fuck. The fact that you have to have someone elses account activated on your system has completely changed my tune towards this sharing business. That's just not something I'd be comfortable with. Of course If I had actually been able to download my own games before now I would've known all this. Looks like I'm gonna have spend more time on the phone with customer and tech support to get my address recognized, so I can download for myself. Had to go through this hassle once just to get my PSN account set up in the first place.

    Thanks for shedding the light.

I've done it with friends and just changed my password after they've downloaded what they were after.

You do have to trust them not to buy any extra shit when they're on there though!

Also, I doubt this thread will go down well with mods.

I honestly don't even know what my password is anymore. I'm sure it's easy enough to retrieve it and change it, but that's just another annoyance that I wouldn't want to have to deal with.

I'm gonna lay off creating threads now for a while. seems like every time I create one I have to turn around and request a mod to lock it. Not for lack of inernet forum savvy. Just usually the inability to locate duplicates. In this case it's been several months since I read the forum rules. Time to refresh my familiarity.

For the record Sony set up PSN with this capability in mind. When we first found out about it several of us spent a few hours on the phone with CS trying to verify that it was within the rules, and they said 'sure!'. So it doesn't exactly fall under the forbidden warez rule. If a mod wants more info on this I'd be happy to give it to them.

And this IS something that, in the long run, is worth doing. If you have someone that you trust with your account info. On a board like this I'm not sure how common that will be.

@MuttonChops: You know you can buy American Express gift cards and use those for PSN purchases right?
