I'd like to pick up a few bits and bobs for my PS3:
- A Webcam
- A keyboard
- A mouse
In addition to this, I don't want to spend a lot of money
I've tried plugging an existing USB Webcam in and it doesn't recognise it, although I hear the original eyetoy (which can be got for about £7 nowadays) works. What's the resolution like on it?
I don't have a USB keyboard or mouse at present, I'm still back in ye olde days of PS2 Keyboard and Mouse with my PC. With regard to the PS3, are there any wireless keyboards/mice that work well? My sofa is a fair distance from the tv so wireless would definitely be desirable.
Logitech makes the official keyboard for the U.S. market, they didn't show up when I did a search on Amazon.co.uk.
I did find this however. One of the comments says it works with the PS3. Still, I guess that's like $35 which might be more than you want to spend. I'd imagine if this one works though that any Bluetooth keyboard would.
You're probably stuck with the EyeToy or the new Eye as far as webcams go though...they're not practically universal like a keyboard. You plug a keyboard in to almost any computer and it's gonna work right off the bat. Webcams require drivers and they're all a little different. For instance, it took a few months for Apple to release a driver for the webcame on MacBooks for Windows XP.

I know the Xbox Live Vision camera also works with the PS3 and one other standard webcam (I forget which).
Cheers for the advice, does anyone know if I get a wireless USB keyboard (with dongle) if it'll work on my PS3?

As long as it's plug and play. Mouses too.
