Yup, says on the site that it'll be available this month, and I hope he makes a stack of cash from it. Bought so hard.

edit: and then the record labels will step in and sue because you're using their music as the in-game soundtrack without their permission.
    Just you wait and see.

Does anybody know if they made it so us using window 2000 can play?

I don't know about that, but I know microsoft made it so you can play the game in XP.

come on, you're 2 generations back, its 2008 your OS is almost a decade old. . .

I'm just being cynical there, and I personally don't see it as any different to things like custom soundtracks on the 360, but I could just see a record company saying "hey, he's potentially using our music for his own profit!" and trying to start something.
    I'm just bitter, is all.

There's no issue with buying a guitar because you can potentially play others' songs with it, or buying a computer because you can potentially do file sharing. Or buying an MP3 player for the same reason you give.

I'm sure someone is trying to find out if they are within their rights to stop it, as well. I know it was just a comment but I see it as being pretty close to a program like winamp with a more advanced and interactive visualizer. It would be frightening if anyone was able to stop this project.

Yeah, I really didn't actually mean that I expect they'll be hit with a C&D in the next couple of weeks, just that there seem to be a fair few record labels and organisations out there that would jump at the opportunity to try and squeeze a few extra monies out of people. It's an interactive visualiser, so I can't see there'd be any actual case for that.

Sort of reminds me of Marvel winning over CoH because you could basically build Wolverine.

Emphasis on the "sort of" because I know it's not the same, but it's close enough for me!

There's a very silly way to get around the demo expired, but it only lets you play one more song, so you have to redo it every time.

I doubt it's kosher for me to post it, and I'm not even sure why I'm posting this. /Striptease.

Also, considering it's a game that has the soundtrack done by 65daysofstatic, I am buying three copies.

And honestly, I'm not entirely sure why no one else has done this yet. It shouldn't've taken the world this long to get a game based on the player's own music.

Yeah, that pissed me off. It makes grabbing colored blocks that are wedged between gray blocks a hell of a lot easier.

Can I just say that this game was made specifically for disco music?

    Man.

I mean, other stuff is fun, but the disco just fits.

    What did they do?

They took out the ability to grab blocks from all three columns at the same time.

Edit: Oh, the arrows themselves grabbed the blocks. The ability to use them was taken out.

Best track I've played by 65daysofstatic was Aren't We All Running. It's the perfect blend of bumpy, mellow roads and then cataclysmically smashing into an intense downhill plunge. That being siad, I would absolutely love a variant of the freeride mode, where you can make albums and they're all strung together. Playing through The Fall of Math would be an incredible experience.

I've found that instrumental music is the best to play with Audiosurf. If there are vocals in the song, for some reason something just doesn't click and it isn't as enjoyable. Then again, all I really listen to is post rock, so.

All math rock works really well.

Regarding songs with vocals, I haven't played a single song that I didn't like. Some are definitely more intense than others, but that's a function of the song itself rather than the game translating the song into a track.

I played through a few good ones last night; "She's On Fire" off of Aerosmith's "Done with Mirrors" CD was a good mix of peaks & valleys...played a few songs off of Chris Whitley's "Terra Incognita" from '97, those were fun.

"Hangarmagaddeon" from OCRemix's Dark Side of Phobos project is fun, and apparently popular judging by the high score list.

The only problem I have with this game is that I can't buy it yet.

oh, I thought they were doing custom songs that came with it or something.

when I tried the first beta I found heroin house music to work really well, even though it's pretty mellow. I think the track had more going on in it than some tech death metal I tried.
