I should be getting my tax return in soon, and I've budgeted about $300-400 for a washer dryer set. I've looked at a few appliance store websites, and I may have underestimated the cost of even the cheaper sets. Does anyone know of a good place to shop or even a good brand/model to look for?
Also, I've checked craigslist, which always has plenty of washer/dryers available in my area. I'm a little hesitant to trust a used appliance without any hope for a warranty. Am I right on that or just being paranoid?
With your budget you are pretty limited on new units. My generic reccomendation is that you want the biggest units with the least frills. For some reason the big units seem to be built tougher and the fewer frills the fewer things can break. If you are upgrading then consider replacing one or the other.
Craigslist is a good source of cheap stuff but I would want to see a washer run though the cycle one time as the most expensive thing to replace is the gearbox.
