I don't know why, but I thought it'd be cool to have a weekly thread to discuss the games that were released in that particular week. Being relatively new to the joint, I don't know if this has been done before or what have you, and I think search is still down so, I offer to you the releases of the week of February 5th. Discuss what you like:

Is Medieval II any good? I've been trying to find a good sim/strategy game that involved warfare and I think that might be the ticket. I'm also looking for the type of game like a Sim City I guess, where the technology gets better over time. Or something. What do I know.

Medieval II is generally considered to be good. It was a bit buggy at release and some people prefer Rome or even the first Medieval but it's still a good game and patches fix most of the bugs. Just ignore the Merchants, I don't think they're ever going to be useful. The Gold Edition represents a very good purchase because the Kingdoms expansion adds a lot of cool stuff and it's really rather cheap. It looks like it costs the same price as the expansion alone cost a few months ago.
Also worth looking up - Total War: Eras, which is a box set of Shogun, Medieval (the first one) and Rome as well as all of their expansion packs plus some other usual collectors edition box-set type stuff.
But if you got it cleared, good show.
My room mate might be getting Turok. I hope for his sake that somehow the demo was screwed up.
This is kind of the opposite of a megathread, though (a microthread?), since it's grouping a whole bunch of games together into one spot. Personally, I think if enough people are interested in Game X, someone will make a thread to talk about it and others will be interested enough to keep it afloat.
Though I am curious about Assassin's Creed DS. If someone picks it up, he/she should make a thread to give impressions.
...
If it wasnt for my horse, I never would have spent that year in college.
So we wouldn't be talking about, say, DMC4 or Turok in this thread, 'cause they've got their own threads.
So this would be more of a shovelware thread?
Me & My Cash Cow DS GOTY2k8 confirmed.
God I hate Turok. A lot. I would rather play through the Acclaim original again before giving one more minute of my time to that game. Unfortunately I need to complete one last area before I can vomit out a review.
Turok
Turok II
Turok Rage Wars
or
Turok the Gamecube/PS2/XBX one?
95% are Karaoke shit though.
Switch - SW-3699-5063-5018
Fuck, I'm blacking out.
You son of a bitch, if I'm found dead on the bathroom floor tomorrow, it's your fault.
I remember checking out their teaser at 06's E3... so it took them two years and they still couldn't muster up a good game? That's funny as hell.
Once you've narrowed it down to low-profile games that are potentially worthwhile, put some info on the games (screens, brief description). It could make for a nice "Here are some games that probably flew under your radar this week/month" thread.
Of course, if there are no games left over after taking out the shovelware and AAA titles, then just don't have a thread.
Yea it was pretty average at the hanger last year at E3, and the full game turns out to be every bit the same, with level design that run the diverse rainbow forgettable to terrible, and characters that go out of their way to be unlikable. Really I can't finish the game and this coverage soon enough so I can file the game away.
It looks to be a pretty great companion to the console versions.
edit: Yes, I'll be buying this game tomorrow immediately after school. I can make a thread if you like, with my impressions.

What the heck is this? Are there any extra characters or stages or anything?

This isn't a megathread, especially if the smart thing is done and a new thread is made every week.
I approve.

Dang, I think I'm gonna pick this up. I loved TM:Black.
EDIT: Just wanted to add I love the idea of a weekly "New Release" thread.
Check the Culdcept Saga thread.
Basically it's a scary addictive board/card game with more then a little ties to Monopoly. Crazy popular in Japan.
Not much at all. Ubi has been mentioning it to a few gaming website, but that's been about it.
They released a press pack a week or two ago.
Thread and info here.

looks like some kind of weird turned base strategy game with possible RPG customization elements.
