I have to submit some of my writing and layout design stuff to the chair of my IT department in order to get experiential credit for a couple courses that I don't really need to take.

Has anyone ever submitted a portfolio to a department chair for this purpose? Any advice?

Do an intro of the project you did, along with a list of all the features or a reqs doc. Get some good screen shots and print them out as large as you can. Get some good pieces of code (i.e. something neat and beyond basic), with an accompanying screenshots. Print out whatever design or technical docs you have. Then also have all the data of the whole project on a CD and backed up on a thumbdrive. If it's web based, it's best to have a copy online to show the working product.
