Well, I've been inspired to play through Ocarina of Time again, since I've got a week off.
I'll try to get another video up this weekend, probably Sunday. I'd have another up already, but Camtasia keeps stoping the video capture halfway through the recording without letting me know. It's frustrating to have to do every video twice.
So I finally beat Zelda 2 today. There are now 2 Zelda games I own that I haven't beat, neither of which I really like that much: Phantom Hourglass and Majora's Mask (I know, I'm a blasphemer). But I got through Zelda 2, so maybe...
(Also, fuck you seventh palace in that game)

The idea that your vote is a moral statement about you or who you vote for is some backwards ass libertarian nonsense. Your vote is about society. Vote to protect the vulnerable.
I have only watched two of these LPs so far, but I must say that Valkun's Zelda II LP with guest commentators is one of the best LPs I have seen. Granted I've only been watching them for a couple months, but still.
I've also watched Trus' LttP LP, and man...I felt bad for you fighting the Moldorm, I kept yelling at the monitor about the hidden fairy fountain. Well, I commented out loud about it to myself once, but still. It's also nice to hear an LP from a fellow hockey fan. Are you a Leafs fan? The only thing I have to go by is your comment on the previous page...and the fact you were watching TSN, I suppose.

Ah, fair enough. I like the Flames better than the Leafs anyway. I'm a Pens fan myself.
Since I'm going to be busy for most of tomorrow, I think I'll do a quick video Zelda 2 video tonight. Anyone want to do some commentary in roughly half an hour? PM me and become a star!
1. First off, I owe you an apology. While playing Ocarina the other day, I checked what Navi tells you about Wolfos. Turns out she mentions nothing about their weak point being their tail. Maybe they say it in Majora's Mask or something, either way I'm wrong. However, it's still their weak point, so feel free to utilize that tactic when you see them again.
2. Thank you for getting Farore's Wind, even though I highly doubt you'll use it. Well, you might just because of the whole Let's Play thing and the possible need to break a dungeon into chunks. It's pretty unwieldy, but it still bothers me that half my friends never even bother picking it up.
3. That torch in Zora's Domain is used as a lighting point for Deku Sticks to light all the unlit torches lining the bottom floor. It's not exactly an easy puzzle, but I recall it granting a piece of heart reward if you feel like trying. Is that a spoiler? I don't think so, it's not quest related or anything.
4. You probably checked this as soon as the video was over, but you can indeed leave Jabu-Jabu once you've entered.
If I haven't made you even mildly interested in giving Majora's Mask another chance by the end of my LP, I have failed as MM fan. It's an awesome game hindered by a few poor design choices.
Speaking of which, my capture card came in the mail on Friday, and I picked up a mic while I was out yesterday. I'll get everything set up, fuck around with whatever software I decide on, and I should probably have something ready at some point next weekend. The week after next (or next, depending on what day you consider as the start of the new week) I'll have off, and I won't be going out of town as previously planned. Which means I'll have a shitload of time to dedicate to this.
It's worth mentioning that if I were Link in WW I would've killed Tetra at least twice already. So Link is infinitely more patient with people than I am.
I really love Majora's Mask, but my irrational fear of running out of time in the middle of a dungeon paralyzes me and makes me stop playing around the third dungeon every time. I have beaten it once, though, and it was a full mask completion and everything. Someday I'll get through it again. Maybe this summer.
It's not like you lose any time if you have to go back to the first day in the middle of a dungeon. They were very careful about making sure that getting the dungeon item or the Boss Key meant that you didn't have to redo the previous parts of the dungeon. So, if you can do a third of the dungeon in an hour, you're set.
And really, if it bothers you that much, you can just reset the clock once you're done with all the pre-dungeon stuff, and have the full three days with which to take your sweet time.
Now me, I have an irrational fear that the game will freeze or reset, or a pet will step on the console's power button, or any number of other things, after I've done every thing in a particular area, dungeon included, and I'll lose a solid 4-5 hours of work. Although, this is less irrational and more prophetic, because it happens every freaking time.

I hope you can get me interesting MM. I got about 30 minutes in to the game and just gave up on it. After reading all the love the game gets on this forum I can't help but feel like I missed something that made the game awsome.

The important thing is that you get the dungeon item. I'm pretty sure you keep the map, compass, and boss key, but if you get the item exclusive to that dungeon, you can run through it again fairly quick. I'm sure I've had that problem crop up more than a few times. And contrary to what people say, you don't lose everything when you restart (I'm sure you know this, but I see that complaint way too often).
I don't feel like there's anything significant about the last dungeon, but the quest to get the Gibdo Mask is one of the best. Also, I was thoroughly impressed with the look of the "cutscene" at the end of the Ikana Castle sidequest. With the light shining in and the skull of the King of Ikana Kingdom floating back and forth as he teaches you the Elegy of Emptiness. It just stands out in my mind.

Here's the way I see it: the best way to describe OoT is by its epic scope. You're doing a lot over the course of one game. The best way to describe MM is based on how personal it is. You're not saving the world so much like you were in OoT, you're saving these people. You can't really get that from the game by putting just a few hours into it.

1. Eh, don't worry about it. It's nice to know that someone is at least watching.
2. How can you not get it? I wasn't really even trying to on my pre-video playthrough, I just saw those rocks over there when I was trying to figure out how to get into Jabu-Jabu (which took me longer than I'd care to admit). I was like, "this looks like a rock I blew up earlier, wonder what happens if I try to blow this one up?" Lo and behold, there was a great fairy! If nothing else, finding the great fairies is good just for the sole reason it's free HP and MP. At any rate, exploration is one of the main joys I get out of Zelda games and the fact that people don't find that fairy is disheartening.
3. Ah. Well, that'd be useful.
4. Actually, I didn't. I saved and turned it off, but I may leave to stock up on supplies before the next video now that you mention it.
But, yeah, I did a pre-playthrough for that video but it made doing everything over again really boring. Jabu-Jabu also seems exceedingly tedious, so I'm planning on recording that tomorrow on my first try. If it gets really stupid (and knowing me, it probably will) I'll employ some editing to reduce the tedium.

I've been watching Let's Plays since September, and even though I've always liked Gilders the best, Valkun is managing to make his really amazing. Guest commentators is such an awesome idea
I've also been watching the OoT one, and it's pretty good, but just one little thing,
The Creepy Owl's name is Kaepora Gaebora. Although you should probably still call him Creepy Owl, because it's funny. :P
It's worth mentioning that if I were Link in WW I would've killed Tetra at least twice already. So Link is infinitely more patient with people than I am.
It probably helped that she was the first girl he saw in his life that he wasn't related to. Just sayin'.

Possibly, but I was thinking of the LP, like where is it?
I am having troubles with the first video, and mid-terms and papers associated with them are coming to pass/have passed. In other words, real life is kicking my ass to let me progress with the TP LP. Hopefully after this week I can get back on track and get started.

Goddammit, Valkun! I go out (all night mind you, haven't slept yet) and you do this to me? I should make you play Zelda I without using the sword. ;-)
Also, a good rule of thumb is to always light unlit torches. Always.
In the island in the the middle of Lake Hylia there is a pond of happiness. For every 100 rupees you throw in, a great fairy will increase your max bombs or arrows by 5.
The answer to this question may or may not require a spoiler tag, I'll let you decide.
Does the Twilight Princess storyline focus around the Triforce? If not the primary focus, how much of a percentage does it impact the story?
There's some impact from what I can recall. Basically, they show that Ganondorf cannot be killed because he possesses the Triforce of Power. Also, it's the Triforce that lets Link (and Zelda) stay alive in the Twilight rather than become a spirit like everyone else. I think Link has the Triforce on his hand at the beginning, because there's a little sign above his door with a yellow triangle on it... I'm guessing that means everyone knows he's destined to be a hero.

Wasn't there more to it? If I remember correctly, the ancestors of the Twilight people (can't for the life of me remember the name) were orginally banished to the Twilight because they tried to take over the sacred land of the Triforce.

The palaces don't turn to stone until you get the item from them. Still, he has to run through it again which is ouch on its own.
Toon Link is the best.
Really? I thought it was placing the crystal in the statue that triggered the stone transformation. Learn something new everyday, I guess

Best dungeon design of any Zelda.
Arguably.
