The microphone on my computer will not work for some reason. It will pick up when I blow into it, and thats it. I've turned up the volume all the way and I can scream into it but it won't pick it up. The only thing I can get out of it when I test it is if I blow into it... Also, its not my microphone, as I've tried several different ones and they've all produced the same effect.
go into your volume controls and click on options > advanced controls. make sure the mic volume is up. click the advanced button at the bottom and make sure mic boost is checked.

if you have some sort of audio card software installed, check that. If you have a Soundmax icon in your control panel, that opens up a different set of audio controls and maybe the mic volume on that is low.

Nah, I'm just using the audio that came on my mobo, Realtek AC97 Audio. I've checked the different sound settings in my control panel and the mic volume there is turned all the way up as well as in the basic sound options. On both I've turned up the mic boost.
