Ok, so I just got Vista Ultimate 64 bit edition. I have 4 gigs of RAM, so I wanted to utilize all the power I could.
I've been having a lot of problems. Half-life 2 crashes within a few minutes every time, getting very bad fps in team fortress 2 and portal, crysis is unplayable on any setting (2fps), and more.
Additionally, what sound card is in your system? How was Ultimate installed (clean install from full version, upgrade install from XP, upgrade from Vista Home)?
You ever say you could probably use a better video card when you're rocking a 7900gtx512 and I'll personally turn your balls into pancakes.
By the way, is that RDRAM a typo? I didn't even know that stuff was still really sold on the market, and am not familiar with how it works as compared to DDR2/3.

Windows and my video drivers are updated as much as they can be. I'm using realtek onboard audio and that is also updated.
I formatted both my hdd's then did a full clean install of vista ultimate 64 full version. So it was the non upgrade version, the full $300 some odd bucks one.
Also, the sounds are definently not any kind of malfunction. It sounds like the other vista sounds, like its from a music track or something. Like it should be making that sound, but I don't know why it is.

The sounds could be from your system speaker.
Have you installed all the latest drivers?
