Hi guys i live in australia and still no release date has been announced for super smash bros brawl on the wii
you can only imagine how friggen angry i am at nintendo so i am planning to buy an american version of SSBB online. the only thing is, will it have a region lock?
I believe my brother told me last week, who is a massive Nintendo fan, that Smash Bros will be coming out around June. Dont quote me on it because I don't know where he gets his information, but he did get the release date of Trauma Centre right on the money even though I hadn't found a release date online.
I also think we're getting screwed with a much-delayed release of Mario Kart too. But hey, this is Nintendo and we're a PAL territory, what else can you expect? Took us about 8 months to get Super Paper Mario :P
But yeah, Wii games are region coded so your best bet is to pray for a reasonable release date in Europe and import it. And yes even though we're the same territory, Europe and Australia, release dates have differed.
True they do tend to differ abit. But once it's out in Europe it's not really worth importing. Shouldn't be more then another week or so.
Your best bet for getting Brawl early is the Wii Freeloader. (If nintendo blocks this thing I will murder them then cry because I'm deprived of new nintendo games.)
It will be region locked. Your options are basically;
Buy a NTSC Wii and then play your copy on that, this is your best option but the most expensive. Unfortunately I've no idea if you'll be able to play against your friends online via friend codes with PAL versions once you've got it. I've played BWii and Strikers online before with no issues, but both were random play and I've no idea where abouts the people I played against were from. But hey! You can play against me either way!
Pick up a Freeloader disc. This'll let you play it without any issues.......till a patch from Nintendo stops it from working any longer. You may run into issues online as well in the mean time. I haven't tried one before so I don't know where you'd be able to go from there.
Wait till it gets released. Going to have to wait a while, but at least you know that it won't give you any trouble.

Freeloader is finished though.
For now... :winky:
