I've been running the Folding @ Home SMP client for the last 6 weeks. I leave the computer on 24/7 but haven't had any problems. A thunderstorm rolls into town a few days ago and I shut the computer off and unplugged it because I'm a bit paranoid. Once the storm leaves (the lights didn't so much as flicker, so I was worried for nothing), I turn the PC back on. Within a couple of minutes of F@H starting, I get an error message from the Intel Desktop Utilites that Processor Thermal Margin is over the threshold. I shut down F@H and it says it is still too hot. I reboot the PC and the temp is fine. But as soon as I start F@H again I get the temperature warning. And again, if I shut off F@H the temp doesn't go down unless I reboot.
So is this an actual problem or is the temp monitoring software just being goofy? I'm leaning toward the software being wrong since I ran F@H for so long with no problems and the heat issue doesn't go away when I stop F@H. Also before anyone asks, the fans are all running properly and this doesn't happen when I run any other software, even games.
