Help me plan a surprise date! - Need board game ideas and drink recipes!

I'm in the process of moving out of my apartment and in with my girlfriend. As a result, i'm missing a lot of furniture, and have a mostly barren living room.

We've been dating for 8 months as of today (no comments about living together so soon - we actually met when we shared an apartment 3 years ago). So, i figured that rather than take her out for a dinner that I can't totally afford at the moment, I'd surprise her with some fun at home, on the floor, in front of the fireplace.

I'm picking up some sushi on the way home from class, and that's about as far as I've gotten.

I'd like to have a board or card game handy that is fun for just 2 people. And I'd like to make some fun/fruity drinks. That's where I need help.

1 - Any boad game suggestions? Relatively cheap to buy is a plus, in case I can't borrow it from a friend.

2 - Drink recipes? I have a blender, and a pretty extensive array of alcohol, so chances are I'll need to buy is the stuff to mix. We had a ridiculously good frozen drink in Vegas over the summer, though for life of me I can't remember what it was called. It tasted like a mangoy or pineappley Mai Tai. Anyways, yeah, something very fruity, preferebly made with rum, though Vodka would be OK as well.

Your collective minds have about 4 and a half hours to save my ass.

Thanks in advance :)

one of the best perfectly-good-for-two-people games ive ever played is Carcassonne. YMMV, but I highly reccomend it.

It's hard to suggest a good board game without knowing something about what she likes. I mean, I could sit around for hours playing a strategy game, or trivial pursuit, or scategories, but my wife would go crazy and shoot me.

As for drinks... daiquiris and margaritas are always good frozen drinks and you can pretty much sub in any kind of fruit flavor -- you'll get better flavor if you use either fresh fruit, or fruit nectar/syrup instead of just fruit juice.

We had Carcassonne on the 360 and she didn't enjoy it much, though I'm not sure if that's because she wasn't good at it, didn't fully understand it, or didn't like the controls.

Games she has liked that we've played in the past in larger groups:

    Boggle
    Apples to Apples
    Uno
    Imagine-if
    Cranium

Why not try some really old kids' games, like Candyland or Guess Who or Chutes and Ladders? Also, there's always Battleship.

As for drinks, it depends on what your tastes are. Personally, I'm a fan of Amaretto sours, Mudslides, whiskey and coke, rum and coke, and white Russians. Those are all fairly girly drinks, IMO, and suitable for a variety of palettes. Unless you're a gin and tonic person, then there's no help for you. ;)

    Scrabble
or just hours of Boggle... that would be awesome too :)

Could go with an old classic like Life or Clue.

Fluxx, Phase 10, and Set are fun card games but can get old pretty quickly.

i Recommend the other games in the Cranium family.

    Although, I think you may need more than two, I'm not sure, and I don't have time to find out right now, sorry. -_-;

I wanna see it when you find out what comets, stars, and moons are all about
I wanna see their faces turn to backs of heads and slowly get smaller

Stratego? I always love that one, but not sure if it'd work for you... it is two player... :)

You thinking of blended iced drinks, like smoothies? You may want to stop and get a bag of ice, so you have enough.
I don't generally go for the rum drinks, but there's a giant list here. Bahama Mamas are supposed to be good, as are Sea Breezes (although, I think that's a vodka one, not rum).

I don't believe it - I'm on my THIRD PS3, and my FIRST XBOX360. What the heck?

Mancala is the most versatile and fun 2 player game out there. If you were stuck on a desert island you could still play it with holes in the sand and rocks or coconuts.

My partner and I play a lot of Othello. It's super easy to learn if either you or your date don't know how to play it.

    Go.

Ok, ok, it's a terrible date game, but a fantastic game none-the-less. I'd say Guess Who... and play for clothes.

If you both have decent spatial reasoning, go for Khet. It's totally awesome.
