Good Deals on International Flights

Hey H/A.

I'm looking for websites that offer good deals on international flights.
Anyone have some good experience with a particular booking company?

In case the following info is important:

- Departing from: Sacramento or San Francisco, CA. Arriving: Frankfurt, Germany.
- I won't be needing to rent a car or hotel room once I'm at my destination.
- Date of the trip isn't yet set in stone, and neither is the duration of my stay. I will need a roundtrip ticket, however.

Also, what time of the year and/or day is typically the best to travel on (assuming it affects the price of a ticket)?

Thanks.

There's the general tip of "Don't fly during peak season (i.e. major holidays)".

As for flights - anything you do is going to involve transfers, especially if you fly out of Sacramento. *looks a little more* I lie - you can get a non-stop from SFO to FRA, but it's nearly a grand more than some of the other options.

Just on a random search SMF (Sacramento) to Frankfurt, leaving March 20th coming back April 24th, US Airways has a $670 round trip ticket with 2 stop overs (Phoenix & Charlotte).

If you don't have set dates, it may be worth investigating an "open return" ticket - which may involve talking to an actual person as opposed to booking purely online.

Summer is the peak season for Europe (OMG Eiffel Towerz lol!). Tickets will be cheaper, generally, from September to about March.
