I just wish there were more armory slots.
I am stuck looking for stuff to kill and I have tried the newbie areas but exp sucks.
I've just checked this out, and the handshaking prompt is indeed not working. Can you enumerate all the failing prompts, please? Until recently, darts and armwrestling had a problem there, but the server was tweaked so now it's all fine. Hopefully handshaking and obtaining of belts can be sorted out the same way. As a workaround, you can configure RosMud to use "compatibility mode" prompt recognition; just untick the "Telnet Prompt Option" box in the connection dialog, and it should recognize the prompt.
BTW, regarding gear and storage: Threshold is designed around the principle that people WILL lose gear periodically. It's not hard to get some new gear; before you join a guild, you can get free gear from the Newcomer Academy, and once you're in a guild, you should have lots of people you can ask about gear.
Seriously though, I'm giving this a chance but there is no excuse for them having so little information on actual game mechanics on the web page as long as this MUD has apparently been around.

Regardless it will probably not be a Kestrel because their physical description is still pretty retarded. Something else maybe, but my options for a kooky Necromancer race are dwindling with Canis and Kestrel both problematic.

or honestly, human. humans are really good on threshold, and you can make a character 'kooky' in way more ways than just their race.
Oh I can, but I wanted kooky in the sense of a mental image that amused me. And a wolf Necromancer pretty much fit the bill. Tee hee.

- Skills cost an insane amount of xp/money to train at lower levels, and you pretty much have to have them all the way up to be effective.
- There are instakill rooms and plenty of mobs that you can run into very easily who can just kill you outright if you go exploring.
- Combat through heritage basically consists of fighting the same few piddly small animals over and over again. It can get pretty tedious, and until you get into a guild and get your first combat abilities, you basically don't have a lot to do.
- RP can be intensely cliquish right now. It wasn't always so, and there are definite exceptions, but there's a large amount of RP cliques that can be hard to interact with.
- The list of registration rewards and their dollar amounts can be terrifying to look at.
- In the age of modern MMOs, gearing yourself up and keeping that gear in Threshold is a pretty arduous task. It is, however, eventually part of the fun.
Having said all that,
- The guilds remain some of the coolest I have ever seen, both in form and implementation.
- When the RP is on, it's fantastic, and the world is full of some of the coolest characters driven by some of the smartest RPers I've encountered.
- The quests are difficult, and very rewarding to solve.
- Lots of fun ways to waste time, so there never really is such a thing as "downtime".
- Longevity unmatched, because so much of the conflict is player-driven and RP intensive.
Overall I love Threshold, and I hope to keep playing it for a really long time. My biggest problems with it are the unfriendliness of the first few levels... I think it keeps a lot of people from playing there over the long term, and the intimidation factor levelled at new players with all the help files. People DO go out of their way to help newbies, but when almost every single one of the people I've introduced to the game have stated the same things, I can't help but think things before level 4/4 could use a tweak.
They should really just tell you what they do.

Hey sorry I didn't reply any sooner, was at a LARP this weekend.
I'm 5/4 right now. My fiance is starting to play tonight as well, possibly a Psion. Or a cleric. His name will be Aralin.
