Hello, H/A!
I posted here a few months ago asking for some responses to a card sort and survey we're using for the preliminary part of a serious games project. Your help was very useful, as our target population for the sort/survey is gamers and gaming experts! Turns out the lead wants us to get more of that rascally n (sample size), so here I am again.
Our project is aiming to look at the relationship between certain gaming attributes and learning. For this purpose, we're gathering some information to use in deciding how to cluster variations in a training game we're making for the Marines. If you're willing to give a hand, please check the link below the boring letter covering ethics. When you're doing the card sort, you can hover your cursor over the terms to see definitions, which will make things much more clear.
Please note that if you have already taken the survey, we don't need your responses again. But thanks anyway!
Standard ethics letter and briefing:
Hello! You are being messaged to request participation in video game research by Eduardo Salas of the University of Central Florida.
We have created a fairly comprehensive list of gaming attributes - a list of various characteristics of games. For research purposes, we want to narrow this list to a more manageable number of variables and are thus asking for your help.
If you play or develop computer-based games, are 18 years of age or older, and are familiar with the likes of Halo, The Age of Empires III, and Neverwinter Nights, then we need your help! We have entered each attribute along with the definition we are using into a user-friendly web-based program. Using this program, you will be able drag each gaming characteristic into a new group, creating meaningful clusters. You can even suggest names for the new groups. The link below will take you directly to the site. You begin by entering your first name. Directions for using the program will then be presented on the following screen. Please only follow this link if you are a serious gamer. We appreciate your help.
