So I've just started playing Fallout 2 for the first time. Great game, but I've seem to have a lot of items to sell, but bartering opprotunities are few and far between. Is it possible to stash items in one of the lockers or shelves in the game, and have them still be there later? Specifically Im in Redding, at the Sheriffs office right now.
Also, is it possible to join the Brotherhood of Steel?
EDIT: Also, I notice with my inventory I have two item slots available, but in the main game only one shows up. How do I switch in between?
The red button to the top corner of your weapon bar switches between the two. When empty, the left one will be punches and the right one kicks. Right clicking the item bar with a weapon inside will alternate between general shots, aimed shots, and if applicable, burst mode.
Yes you can join the Brotherhood but I will not tell you where. :P
You can store items in most containers and they will stay there regardless of where you go. I generally pick an easily accessible and central location with few lockers in order to store and organize any excess stuff.
You will run in to the BoS eventually if you keep playing, but you really just work for them, I don't believe that you "join"
I would recommend the Mule perk so you can carry more stuff. Also, keep an eye out for the car you can fix up, then you can store stuff in its trunk. You can also stash stuff on your NPCs by using your Steal skill I think.
Edit: By "your NPCs" I mean your party members. And you should actually be able to trade with them, I think the steal method was Fallout 1. Just trade with one of them and leave their side blank.

Later on you can get hold of a car if you get the necessary stuff together. It has a trunk that you can store a tonne of stuff in.
You can definitely join the BoS... though it's been so long that I don't remember exactly how.
Read the spoiler for what I can remember of it.
When you find their "headquarters", there's a few ways they'll let you join. One way involves you going down to "the glow" and retrieving something. I can't remember what it is... but you'll run into the BoS headquarters if you play through the whole game linearly.
Also, definitely try to get the car, the movable storage will be helpful. If you manage to get people to join your team, you can have them haul a bunch of stuff too. Unlike in Fallout 1, you don't have to trade them for equally valued items to get your stuff back (if I remember correctly).

Thanks for all the help. I bought Fallout 1 and 2 together a long time ago, but didnt play that much before getting Fallout Tactics. Its definately a fun game. Thanks again.

That's Fallout 1.
