F-Zero Z, a baseless rumour. Damn you Germany! to the latrine service thunders!
An official successor to f-f-Zero GX appears on the Nintendo Wii. f-f-Zero Z, so the title of the Future Racers all distances of the Gamecube of predecessor will presumably contain and an on-line mode will have. A weapon system was also confirmed. On the E3 of this year is the title by Big N to be presented...
A weapon system
Anyway. Anticipation on. GX was one of my favourite games of last generation.
Was wir damit sagen wollen?
Dishonor over our head! With a view of the date one could actually have suspected it, on the other hand one daily enormous amounts at rumors and announcing in the net schwirren and we want from you no still so small message of possible Wichtigkiet to naturally withhold. Which we thereby to say want? Planet Nintendo is pleased also on the April joke circulating in the net... hihi hoho. It concerned with the announcement new f-f-Zero of a part (at least voerst) only a fun. Our editor concerned is naturally pulled for it to the account and immediately to the latrine service thunders. Cpt. Falcon remains still in the garage and we is all thus for the time being around an experience enriches: -)
Dishonor over their head indeed. I say we send Planet-Nintendo.de to the latrine service thunders! Cpt. Falcon remains still in the garage I guess.
F-Zero GX was absolutely perfect. I have not played any other games in the franchise, however I -own- the second GBA one without ever having played it (it was 3.00 new)
.....weapons? I hate to sound like a whiney conservative, but I really wanted f-zero to never go down that route. It was what differentiated it from Wipeout (especially now that wipeout have magstrip sections, making them more like F-Zeros rollercoaster style tracks).
The series IS really hard and punishing. Personally I found the only way to beat the FIRST cup on the hardest difficulty in GX was to create a car so fast that it would fly off of the track on certain corners if I didn't do it just right.
It's so good, though. I've been waiting for news of an F-Zero game for the Wii since the system came out.
Control scheme, I suspect wiimote/classic controller. I don't see much nunchuk use there.
GX with slightly better graphics (even though GX was amazing), an even bigger and expansive (possibly character unique?) story mode and more custom ship customising options and I'll be one very happy panda.

They'll probably change it up so as to include Waggle at some point.
I am going to say right now there is no way some random germans can make a better F-Zero than amusement vision. Amusement Vision are the gods of arcade racers.
Also F-Zero is the one game that Nintendo better not 'touch generation' for the Wii. So help me god If they make F-Zero user friendly...

It's the rumour that is by random Germans, not the game. I'll clarify that now.
...With that out of the way, I'm curious about Sega's involvement, if any. Because really, this game could just be a remake of GX without the memory card rapage and reliance upon mythical unicorn AX units and I'd be set.
Online would be great too, since this series was always a bit too hardcore for my more casual-gaming friends to get into.

oh Shiz what a misread. Well I pray that Nintendo gives this one to AV. Really, those guys know what they are doing. Also I stand by my Touch Generations comment.
More racers need weapon systems. Just racing on tracks is pretty one-dimensional. I liked F-Zero GX but it felt wierd to me, but then the only other racing games I've ever played for more than 5 minutes are the Mario Kart and Extreme-G series, both of which involve wheels and weapons.
I wonder if they'll use the steering wheel with the Wii F-zero.
What is up with that Z? That doesn't look right. Well, at least it's not the easy F-Zero W or F-Zero Wii.
Rumors of weapons disturbs me. When I was younger, around the time of F-Zero X, I was thinking a simple weapon system would be cool - some sort of energy attack generated by laying off the accelerator and pressing boost. It would use a portion of your energy bar and fire some sort of energy projectile. I'm sure they'll make weapons work if implemented, but it's all about high speed racing with the occasional bashing into rival cars.
Anyways, a new entry in the F-Zero franchise is inevitable, whether it be this year or next. I guess we'll find out more once E3 rolls around, whether this rumor is viable or not. Hopefully it'll live up to F-Zero GX... I think I still have three Very Hard Story chapters to complete to unlock everything in that one.
(Which reminds me... didn't I write a custom parts FAQ for GameFAQs for F-Zero GX? Whoa, that feels so long ago.)

Then again, AW DoR was revealed by random french rumours
My guess is that weapons will be able to be turned off, or used in another mode altogether (much like Mario Kart's or Rush 2049's battle mode, except maybe no tracks exclusive to that mode).
I will totally get this is it does everything on this list:
-Widescreen
One of the many things I loved about GX was that it was one of the very few GC-games that supported anamorphic widescreen. I'd say that it is pretty much a given that a successor would have that as well.
If weapon systems let me, you know, actually hope to compete at the higher levels, I'm all for it. Otherwise it's so difficult as to be discouraging.
F-Zero is hard, I'm not disputing that.
But it makes it all the more rewarding when you get in that zone and you're one with the game, and you actually pull off the right moves in the right places, boost at the exact right time, and barge into your rival racer at the critical moment of the race that really makes the whole experience for me.
Cruising comfortably in front wouldn't be the same if I hadn't sweated buckets and cried tears of anguish to get to that point.

This is true. It's F-Zero.
A weapon system... if directly tied to how fast you go, maybe. I can see it working but it would have to be done really well.
But seriously oh god a new F-Zero game finally.
God I need to finish doing the Grand Prixs on master difficulty so I can finally unlock the AX cup.
But it's SO HARD.
I can't even imagine playing the game online. Even the slightest lag and you'd obliterate yourself.

anyways this was inevitable - nothing really exciting unless we had some footage or something - weee

I am optimistic, though.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
AMUSEMENT VISION?
WHERE ARE YOU AMUSEMENT VISION?

Not that I deny this, but what in particular did I say in this thread?

There will probably be an option to disable weapons anyway, if they do implement them.

And if it's not high speed you're doing it wrong
F-Zero Z, the name of the Future-Racer, will presumably include all the race tracks of its Gamecube predecessor and feature an online-mode.
Confirm..the translation?
-Play just like GX
-Have all of GX's tracks plus new ones
-Widescreen
-Online
-Weapons are in some optional extra mode
Well, I'm flexible on the online thing. But if it has the other 4 things, bought so hard.
That is what Mario Kart needs, also.

I wouldn't want every game to be like that, but watering down F-Zero to make it easier would be a damn shame.
