Forgetting Sarah Marshall- Die Die Die. I can't

Just came back from this movie and I really got a kick out of it. Extremely funny I thought, with some great casting and even the cameos are great. One of the few things that bothered me, and I'll spoil it just in cast
Peter's arc is basically the same as the one from Knocked Up. Guy is a man child, looses the love of his life, and gets his shit together.

But man, after walking out of that theater, I really want a dracula rock opera with muppets.

It's similar, sure. I think it had some twists in it, though, where Peter at least was marginally successful by writing the music for that TV show. So at least he had a job even if he hated it. But yeah, that's a pretty standard angle, where there's something in the lead that needs improving, and by doing so gets the girl in the end. I liked the way they did it in this movie over "Knocked Up" though, probably because I relate more to a guy in his twenties trying to figure responsibility out as opposed to a guy who is about to be a father.

Another great about this movie is that Jason Segal's writing a new Muppet movie, so hopefully that'll get picked up.

The best parts were the Crime Scene segments.

"She's going to have a hard time winning the pageant... without a face."

The British rock star was hilarious as well. In all, I enjoyed it for the humor, but found the overall plot to be a little lacking.
Things get unnecessarily cruel towards the end as well when Bell's character, who had perfectly legitimate reasons for breaking up with the protagonist, gets genital herpes, has her rebound relationship fall apart, gets called Satan after trying to give a blowjob under emotional distress, and ends up having to star in a lame NBC paranormal crime show.

Sure she cheated, but she's still a human being.

I guess I just don't understand why you can't have a happy ending unless the ex is humiliated.

I love it. Thought it was great.

Not as good as Knocked Up, but still funny.

I thought the movie didn't really get off the ground until about halfway in though. The beginning was poorly paced.

A lot better than Knocked Up - could be because I do not like Seth Rogan's acting and love Jason Segal.

this movie was fantastic. As far as Bell and Siegal go...
I think at the beginning she is seen as the bitch and a villian, but by the end, I had a lot of sympathy for her character. Siegal's character had a lot of growing up to do, and while I think he saw that by the end, you really don't quickly give up hating your ex like that.

I absolutely loved this movie. I am really glad I hadn't ever watched the trailers for it - as I just watched them now and was turned off a bit from the movie. But going in knowing nothing was a very pleasant surprise.

i really enjoyed the film. quality acting, likeable characters, and fucking puppets!

for some reason i thought it was great that it was peter's step brother and not a real brother. an odd quirk that they played very well into several jokes.

also i just want to b my l on her t's. perfect.

I saw this after work. Definitely a date movie. Mila Kunis was fantastic... no trace of her That 70's Show character.

A little more wang than I'm used to in a movie, but nothing wrong with that.

I got such a huge kick out of the part where Segal goes on about his cereal container. I don't know why.

"Now I have the freshest cereal."

Just the way he said it, I was dying :D

Haha, "hey Liz, nice necklace, did you have that on a second ago?" Ahaahaha

Pineapple Express is from the same writing team as Superbad, so I can't WAIT for that.

I do want to see Sarah Marshall, but I'll probably end up waiting for the DVD since the weekly summer blockbuster season is about to start.

I took my ex-girlfriend to see the movie last Saturday. We broke up last month and decided that enough time had passed that we could go out as friends. Neither of us knew the premise, we just knew it was from the guys who did Superbad. She cried every time it showed Peter alone and crying. Talk about a disaster.

While I don't feel good about it, I can't help but laugh at this mental picture. The movie is about a breakup, and you saw it with your ex, who cried. It is all very delicious in my head.

Er... Russell Brand wasn't in Love Actually.

I'm not sure who you could be thinking of that starred in Love Actually since I can't remember characters from it. Russell Brand is very big here in the UK, people either love him fanatically or despise him.

    Yes, I realise this now.

His crazy cheekbones and odd lines in his face made me think he was the dude from love actually who was obsessed with going to the US.

Wow...damn...that might be the worst movie story I've ever heard. I'm not sure if it's worse than the date I had with a girl named Margaret in high school, my first date with her, actually a double date with my buddy and his girlfriend. We went to see "Sliver."

Yeah, the movie with Sharon Stone masturbating in a bathtub.

With Paul and his girlfriend sucking face next to us.

Oh, and it turned out Margaret already had a boyfriend. She forgot to mention that.

That said, "Forgetting..." was freaking hilarious, though it did continue Judd Apatow's unfortunate trend of making female characters feel fake. The comedy of personal discomfort is fertile ground.

And, if I may...Mila Kunis in those little purple shorts...homina homina homina.

I think he does females awesome... in Superbad they didn't just sleep with the lovable heroes... and in this... well, Sarah's speech to Peter feels very authentic

The problem with movies like this in terms of realism is not the dialog. It's the fact that every fucking girl is Attractiveness +1000 and the guy ends up with the girl on a rebound that is forty giga-watt times hotter than most of us will encounter in our entire lives.

I saw this last night - really funny and a good flick. There was a row of high school guys a few rows above us in the theater. When they went to the scene where they show Mila from the back walking towards the cliff, I could hear the collective "splooge" in the theater.

Glad we weren't sitting closer to them.
