Beat it with 114 continues, but to be fair I was up to Visiting Tiger Joe when I last had the game. Great game, I want to go through a second time but don't know if I have the will.
Are you actually attempting a KMS run on Hard? Wow. I don't even want to do a normal run on Hard mode because I like to remember having fun with the game. Hard would just get me beyond frustrated.
Nah man, I thought that but most of the bosses life ended up being absorbed by repeated godhand meter to yes maam spam to pummel to repeat. Dodge a few hits once or twice. I felt really cheap after I beat them half the time.
Now not using it at all the game is mega fucking hard but wow is it fun. Already the first type of demons with the fireball are like yawn. Although I hate those spikey bastards and the ones with the blades I still gotta work on their timing.
I tried it on a normal run and got past the first stage but then I was like man, what, I only got past because it took it down to level 1.
So weak.
It's not like I've gotten past the stage 1 mini boss pair yet so right now I'm probably just biting off more than I can chew. Oh well it's fun.

I played this all day yesterday to correct the horrible HORRIBLE mistake I made of never giving this game a chance due to me hating the first area (and the tank controls).
I was Pummeling, Dragon Kicking, and otherwise giving Apocalyptic beatdowns for 17 straight hours.
Yeah, speaking of controls, some of the good reviews have pointed out that while the controls are awkward at first, once you get used to the game everything clicks and you realize that the way they set things up makes perfect sense. You don't want camera control, you need the right stick for dodging.
Got my copy of God Hand in the mail today. Played up to Sneaking into Elvis' Crib, and I'm starting to feel the irresistible urge to punch faces. I can see how someone could be turned off this game at first glance, but it does grow on you. Already I'm starting to beat the shit out of opponents who used to flog me. I actually beat one of those demon fuckers without having to resort the God Hand.
Although I am playing on easy...
For now...
Who am I kidding? I'm nowhere near ready to even go up to normal
Also can somebody tell me when more techniques become available at the shop? I have most of the ones that I want from what's available so far. And are the best techniques in the shop or are they scattered around the levels?
Everything new becomes available after you finish a stage completely. Once you move on to stage 2, the shop will get in a bunch of new moves and power ups. As for the best techniques, you're going to buy most of them but demons can sometimes drop some nice ones and golden treasure chests in levels usually give you really nice moves, if they're not holding a required key or some health. You can't "miss" any moves however. If you don't get it from the level you'll just have to wait a while for the store to get it.
So yeah, playing on easy because I suck, but I think I'm starting to do better because stage 5 was the easiest one for me yet. Also, I get to punch faces, so that's nice.

Well the best techniques are only available on the second+ playthough of the game.

Well yeah but those don't really count for someone's first time through the game. Those are for clearing out the challenges quickly so you can do Challenge 51. Or for showing off.

When I missed the Yes Man Kablaam, I never saw it show up in the shop.
That's odd. Maybe they did that because it's kind of a "broken" move. I just assumed that anything you miss would go to the shop because I missed Chain Yanker and something else on my first time through but I ended up purchasing them later. If there's a list of missable moves then that might be helpful for first time players.

Moves in boss chests don't show up later.
Nor do a couple of gambling only moves that you get from treasure chests.

OK, I have a question.I love punching people in the face. Love it. It is my second favorite hobby, besides kicking babies in the face (I feel like I get more torque out of my right leg than my arms when I'm kicking a stroller).
But I suck at beat em up actiony games. Is this game still for me? I get discouraged when a game rapes my bum, so I'm concerned it may be too difficult.

Play on easy.
Use the godhand and godreels and you should be fine.

Yeah, the thing is, most bosses are hard, but if you save up God Hand and the reels and get good reel moves, you can often take down a boss just by unleashing all at once. To be honest, I'd actually be more worried about levels with large amounts of enemies. Still, as long as you're willing to lose occasionally you'll be fine.
This game is awesome! It came in the mail yesterday, and I finally cracked it open a few hours ago. This game is so tongue in cheek. I'm, of course, getting my ass handed to me, but I'm having a lot of fun.

By the time you get to those large groups you will be familiar enough with the game to not get raped.
Honestly the game isn't that hard since you always know where you messed up and how to do better.

Should we be insulted that IGN gave Final Fight Streetwise.. STREETWISE a higher score than God Hand?
I really don't understand all the love for Yes Man Kablaam. I consulted a FAQ for some good combos, and pretty much all of them revolve around this technique, but it doesn't really do it for me. Is there something amazing that I'm missing? It takes way too long to work, even when I do it after a guard breaker.
You can cancel out of it right after the punch lands and it gives a big boost to your god hand meter. Check out how much gets added next time you try to use it. However, you should only use it on enemies with short range or when they're dizzed. Any other time and you're probably going to get hit.
I just started all over after reaching the final boss(?) and taking a long, long break, and for some reason I am wrecking faces. Back when I first played, I generally clung to tier 1, occasionally ramping it up to 2 to be quickly smacked down. Now I hover around 2/3 and I've only died a handful of times.
Beating up the bouncer for the first time is so goddamn satisfying.
The other thing about that move is that you can dodge cancel it at any time, so you can even try throwing it when it might not hit, but when trouble comes you just dodge out.
If anything, it just makes the final boss really easy because you can use it on his arm when he stabs it into the ground, or on the demons he releases (you can hit them as they emerge from the ball for free once) to get tons and tons of god hand meter.

You spent money for God Hand.
There cannot be a better deal in the universe.

To be fair, you can still buy a PS2 pretty much anywhere, while God Hand is getting scarce.

Heh, I might just pick it up soon. Easy enough to get here. Is it wrong to find it funny that a good few people had to order one from the internets?

But that's not what I'm here to post. I'm here to post a video. A video of someone who might just be the best God Hand player ever
