Yep - probability for a kitten to be a specific color is 1/2 (black or brown). Thus, for both to be a specific color (the same in this case) would be 1/2 * 1/2 = 1/4. Now, if there were 3 kittens, then you'd get (1/2)^3 = 1/8.
