International News Magazines?

Hey All,

I've just declared as an International Relations major, and I realize that I need to be very active in the process of keeping up with news and opinions to be the best possible student of the subject that I can be. What're some of the magazines out there with a focus on international news? I'm looking into The New Internationalist and Foreign Affairs so far.

Thanks for any help!

I've always enjoyed The Economist, they cover the world. I even subscribed about a month ago, but haven't gotten any issues yet D:

The Economist. Widely read and respected. Perhaps too mainstream for what you're looking for, but if you're not reading it already, you should definitely pick it up.

Foreign Affairs is great but not a news magazine, really. It's quarterly and scholarly. The Economist is your best bet, especially if you can get the non-US edition.

The Guardian? It's a newspaper, though.

I'll third The Economist. It is in-depth, well reasoned, and intelligent. It leans a little to the right but typically calls it as it is.

But a good percentage of the coverage goes toward the U.S., the U.K. and the western hemisphere (30% - 45% tops and you probably can throw China in there as well).

A finance teacher at the college I attended was originally from China and taught herself English with the help of The Economist. She wondered why most of Americans didn't write with the same proficiency as displayed in The Economist.
