At the current rate are the Runaways going to be back to the present by the time their cross-over comes out? Goddamn it Whedon.

Why do they feel the need to mash Runaways and Young Avengers into another arc for SI, like they did for Civil War? They're both good enough to deserve their own run, and it would give the Young Avengers a good spot to jump off into a new book. Not that I don't like the Presents series, but I'd just like to see some new Young Avengers stuff.
And speaking of:
I wonder what would happen if Mockingbird turned out to be the real deal, and Clint took his old namesake back on. What would Kate Bishop do? She couldn't use Hawkeye as a name anymore, and changing it back to Hawkingbird or whateverthefuck would be lame, because she'd have both of them staring her in the face.

I like to see the Young Avengers and Runaways interacting. It's like the JLA/JSA team-ups, or when Spider-Man hangs out with the Fantastic Four. Sure their relationship isn't as storied as the latter examples, but things have to start somewhere, and I think there's enough of a contrast between the groups to create an interesting dynamic down the line, especially as both groups mature.
Also, isn't Young Avengers on hiatus until the original writer gets his ass in gear?
Well Young Avengers Presents has been out for the last three months, each issue concentrating on one or two of the characters.
In fact, if I'm not mistaken, the next one about Kate Bishop. And it guest stars Clint. And it's written by Fraction.

I like to see the interaction too, but it just seems like someone up top is going "Oh hey, Young Avengers. Shit, I forgot about those guys... What are the Runaways doing right now? SI? Um, ok. Let's go ahead and do that Civil War thing again and throw them in the same book."
Word on the street is that some of the Young Avengers and Runaways might not survive. My guess is that either Wiccan or Hulkling will get the axe. The homosexual relationship thing might have been a bit too much for the series. I just pray nothing happens to Kate or Nico. There aren't enough teenage goth supervixens outside of the X-Men, and that shit confuses the fuck out of me, so I can't read it. Plus, Kate needs to meet Clint face to face, when he's not wearing the Captain America suit.

The rumour I've heard is that Xavin ends up siding with the invading Skrulls. Given how the team have handled betrayal in the past, I can't imagine her lasting long. Of course that means they're breaking up the *other* gay couple in the 616 universe!
I bet that Secret Invasion cover is a placeholder, and there's a big twist in #4 that makes the real cover a massive spoiler.
They usually use silhouettes for that, right?
They can, I guess, especially if they want to build speculation on what the silhouettes are, but that might not be the case here.
It might also be the case that the silhouette is incredibly iconic. I.e having Captain America standing on a heap of Skrull corpses might be a BIT obvious.
Young Avengers Presents: Hawkeye is solicited for June 25.
Which one comes out before that one?
We haven't had Cassie's yet I think that is for May then Kate's is finishing the series, in the previews thread we had a while back I posted the non-color scene with Kate and Clint doing some target practice.
So, does anybody actually like the Skrulls as villains?I don't really care for how uniform their ranks are, nor their leadership. The whole Skrull Manifest Destiny thing doesn't do it for me.
I mean, these characters are really only interesting when they're impersonating heroes and you're wondering if they're real or fake. They don't have any personality beyond that.
But then, there's still room for fleshing out Skrull Hank Pym's personality, and any other major Skrull agents.
Well it's hard to say because we still don't know a whole lot about them.
I think they've been perfect as the "mysterious unknown enemy" during the whole build up to the Invasion, and the first 2 issues certainly seem to support that they represent an extremely credible threat. But at the moment there's still just a huge imposing force, we haven't really gotten to know individual skrulls yet.
Although I'm sure we will be doing just that with the Skrull Queen
Yeah, the question for me is whether or not we'll ever know more than one or two Skrulls on an individual basis or if the majority of the tie-ins will be like MI 13 with heroes and their feelings about being invaded/betrayed being the focus and mish-mashed Skrulls being fodder without names.
Supposedly some of them will focus on Skrull soldiers like, IIRC, the She-Hulk/X-Factor tie-ins and of course Frontline. I think there are others, but I just can't think of them at the moment.

I wish we got more Skrulls like Kl'rt from Annihilation, he was a vicious pragmatic jerk ass soldier who's been beaten so many times that his own people have stopped thinking of him as a hero and more as a joke, but in his own twisted way he was still a hero. I thought it was really interesting thinking about how an antagonist species must view somebody like the Super Skrull. Imagine how Iron Man would get treated on earth if he was defeated by every single opponent he went up against.

He'd probably just make some new armor that protects his fragile heart from being broken. The EmoBuster Armor, as it were.

No i'm talking about the reaction the rest of society not Iron Mans, Kl'rt responds in a similar way, he's just a really really aggressive nasty bastard to cover up the shame.

And not only that, but his two greatest successes were in being instrumental in saving his own people's sworn enemy race. Twice.

The SI: X-Men story will also focus some attention on the Skrull in charge of taking out the X-Men.
So Secret Invasion #1 sold a lot of fucking copies. I think that works out to around a quarter of a million copies (maybe a bit more) once someone has done the funky math to get the sales figures.

I know. I've been waiting for this issue for months. I'm so excited I can't even say.
Plus they both have skrulls on thier team, plus the last time they teamed up it involved Marvel Boy
so really this makes perfect sense for me
The idea of Marvel Boy suddenly becoming an establishment hero kinda bums me out.

it does offset all the skrull homage images
there's that
and those are only for the 2 Avengers books anyway
Which one comes out before that one?
Or did that already happen, I dropped Runaways a few issues into Whedon's run.
