The Gottlieb collection has more of an emphasis on electromechanicals than I'm generally interested in, but I'll probably get the eventual PS3 port (even if only for Black Hole).
I'm still holding out hope that we'll see some DLC for the Williams Collection, though. Maybe something like F-16 Tomcat or Black Knight 2000?
Man I have it for the OXbox but...dammit I'll buy it for the Wii, and yes, I'll buy it when it hits the 360, too. I'm such a whore.
Though, it should be noted that the Gottlieb run isn't half as good as the Williams Collection.
...not that it changes anything.
If someone wants to make a thread for that one, go right ahead. It won't be me. I was also able to play it (more like give it a try) on OXbox and I was left with the feeling that it just really wasn't pinball as I knew it. Williams Collection is exactly what I wanted.
Just got off a crazy run on Firepower, including picking up the two Wizard goals I had left (50,000 bonus and Extra Ball... the latter of which I achieved twice).
BTW, $17.99 seems like a special sale price (other games were also marked that), so make sure to get it by Sat.
Amazon has it for the same price too, but they supposedly won't have the game in stock until January. That may change though, and probably will IMO. I am guessing everywhere will have this within the week.
Anyone going to get it? Anyone already have it? Impressions?
I'll probably try to pick it up next weekend when I pick up Silent Hill and FF:CC:TCB:EIEIO. Although if it's anything like the Williams Collection I'll have to hunt it down only to find it in the bargain games that aren't even in a security case.
...aaand I finally got my copy back from a friend. Wii version, naturally. I have some scores for you - clear some spaces, there's some new goals to shoot for!
Black Knight: 14,020,240
Firepower: 1,319,850
Fun House: 59,667,320
Gorgar: 822,600
Pin*bot: 6,096,290
Space Shuttle: 6,270,620
Taxi: 17,881,700
Whirlwind: 55,870,120 (just tonight, topping my previous best by ~12M)

Gotta say, I love me some Fun House...
Wow. And people were complaining about my FunHouse score...
Thanks. I mean, I played a lot of the actual, physical Fun House table as a kid/teen, and was pretty decent at the actual item as well. Not 50 million good, but good. Seeing Fun House on the cover of this collection: Instant Buy. Would have paid full price if Fun House was the only table on the disc!
I got some other scores I can post up later that aren't so warm and fuzzy but I just got one which makes me happy...
Space Shuttle - 5,595,330
This was on the shiny new 360 version. Which has Medieval Madness and Tales of the Arabian Nights... two of my all time favs. Though by the looks of things I'm not saying anything you guys don't already know... well... back to playing this while complaining about the lack of Bride of Pinbot...
So how are the ball physics on the 360 version of this? Overall, how does the game stack up to Pinball FX for instance?
I'm no ball physics maven (hurr hurr) but I thought that part of it was pretty solid.
But I'm more interested in addressing the comparison to Pinball FX....in that, there isn't one. This is vastly, overwhelmingly superior. If you played any of the Pro Pinball titles (which I have long used as the yardstick), the pinball-quality is along those lines.

Here I am thinking the ball physics is the best part of pinball fx, where the table design isn't so great. If it's so vastly superior I guess I'll keep my eye out for a copy. This might be hard to find.
I've read 5 of the 8 pages, but sorry if I missed this answer. Assuming I have every system, which version should I buy? It seems like 360, unless someone tells me otherwise.

Having played it on both 360 and Wii... I think the 360 is better. For whatever money your saving by buying it on the Wii instead of the 360, you'll miss out on the best three tables the game has to offer.
I felt Pinball FX and Zen Pinball were both far superior games in terms of physics. Not sure why but the physics in Williams Collection feels off to me.
With that said the tables are recreated beautifully so if you have any love for old school pinball at all, this is a must buy.

Oh, trust me, I am not passing on MM. I've put more coins into that game than any other pinball machine. Is there any reason to get the PS3 over the 360?

Picked it up this weekend. Hmm. Glad it was an impluse-buy priced disc.
Really like Goin' Nuts and Genie. Figuring out Tee'd Off and El Dorado. Already have no desire to play Strikes n' Spares or Ace High ever again.
The game feels like a quick n' dirty port. A lot of basic things from the Williams collection - like match attempts for all players at once, and multiple table goals - are missing. At least table unlocks are done via a code, so you can just look them up online instead of grinding out replays.
What the Gottlieb collection really makes me want is a Williams licensed collection. Dare to dream...

Goddammit, I hate old tables. I never understood the allure of these table collections. I need lots of lights and ramps and bumpers n shit.
That medival madness? I played that one for real. That one I like.
Guess what came in the mail today? That's right. 360 version, for me. While I prefer the Wii layout, the allure of some new tables and shiny hi-def graphics was enough for me to plunk down $20 on it.
Been tooling around with Tales of the Arabian Nights. New to me, very busy table, but lots of fun. Top score thus far: 31,293,710. Medieval Madness is giving me trouble thus far (left ramp: not enough inertia = drain), and No Good Gophers hasn't been touched. Yet.
Good times thus far!
edit: Busted out the old favorite: Fun House. Seems a touch quicker than the Wii table, but that could be my imagination. First game: 51,109,250.
I got Gottlieb when I picked up NMH2 and Glory of Heracles. NMH2 is still in its cellophane (stupid Magic prerelease and launch...), but I've already beaten all of the goals on all of the tables in Gottlieb. It's much easier when there's only one goal instead of ten...
Basically I can only tolerate like four tables; the rest are just too boring/primitive. Goin' Nuts is almost worth the price of admission alone, however.
Basically I can only tolerate like four tables; the rest are just too boring/primitive. Goin' Nuts is almost worth the price of admission alone, however.
By the same token, I can see why the table never went into production. Starting in multiball really can't have outlanes, what with the chaos and timer mechanic and all, but without outlanes, games of Goin' Nuts tend to go on and on and on and on... Still crazy fun, but far too long for a single-credit play (IMO, of course).
Also, some Williams score updates (all 360 version at this point):
Space Shuttle: 14,721,660 (yeah, that's a jump from my Wii score)
and for the exclusive tables...
Medieval Madness: 51,668,410
No Good Gofers: 68,213,280
Tales of the Arabian Nights: 97,006,580
That Tales game almost had me late for work. "Eh, I've got a little free time before I have to go." TIME PASSES "OK, so I've saved the princess, have an extra ball banked, and have to leave for work in 2 minutes. WHY?!?"
Has anyone else tried playing this lately on PS3 and had it crash to the XMB on startup? I get to the note about having to be signed in to PSN to use the leaderboards, and then... XMB.
All 360 scores, once again, and only scores that top my previous best tally. I'm only Tales of the Arabian Nights away from getting all the basic table goals unlocked, and 5 wizard goals away to boot! (TotAN, Medieval Madness, Sorcerer, Taxi, and Pin*Bot, for the curious.)
Fun House: 73,736,850
Sorcerer: 9,227,120
Taxi: 22,410,110

DUDE!
It's one thing to beat the (currently listed, somewhat outdated) high scores. But did you have to DOUBLE UP on all of them?! Or in the case of Sorcerer, TRIPLE UP?
....and Celoriffic shows everyone he has balls of steel as the scoreboard is updated once again. He's the one to beat having the top scores on 10 of the 13 tables.
...well, that's not fair to say for us SD gamers.
6/8, 7/10, 10/13, depending on which version you have.

36 million on funhouse
I was never going to beat my 23mil score anyway, way to raise the bar
edit: pulled 8,545,420 on Taxi tonight in the midst of intense frustration with this game. psp version, natch.
Exclamation points!

To be fair, that Taxi game was a miracle: 2 jackpots and 5 million-point shots over 7 balls.
Sorcerer: I've learned the importance of keeping multiball going. That's where the ridiculous scores come from.
On the plus side, I did discover that Whirlwind rolls the score over at 100 million...
