Trailer for Joss Whedon's new show with Eliza Dushku Dollhouse has just been released here. The show stars Eliza Dushku as some sort of Blank Slate type character. Clients can pay for her to have new personalities, memories etc. swapped in. Honestly, I don't think it looks all that great, but I trust Joss Whedon enough that I will watch the first couple episodes at least.
I will watch it because it is Joss Whedon, and his series have gotten progressively awesomer.

Let's just hope Fox doesn't cancel it after three episodes like they did with drive, or twelve, in the case of Firefly.
I don't get it. They cancel his shows and air them out of order and do all kinds of crap, but keep letting him come up with new ideas. Why not just let him go to the sci-fi channel where he can do good things for the world.
I plan to tivo all of these and watch them out of order in order to correctly reassemble Whedon's original intent.

Apart from Eliza and Helo the cast is pretty off-putting to be honest. I mean, no offense to anyone but they're pretty ugly (and not in an endearing way like Hurley and Charlie on Lost who were also ugly but more there for comedic relief) and look like my neighbors or random people at work. People don't watch tv to look at their neighbors, they want to look at pretty people. I wonder if Helo and Eliza will be enough to draw in the viewers all on their own, though I guess David and Charisma pulled off something similar all on their own over on Angel when that first got started.
This isn't meant to come across as shallow or anything, but tv is in the end a very visual medium and especially for an edgy and supposedly sexy show like this I think the cast leaves a lot to be desired. It's sa simple law of the entertainment business and in that sense I am seriously worried that the cast might really be detrimental to this show's success. That is to say I wouldn't be surprised if it only ran as long as Firefly did (like 12 or 13 episodes and then cancelled). But let's hope for the best. Eliza is awesome so I am looking forward to it personally.
2 things: Amy Acker has been cast on the show so the yay factor has gone up.
Fox's has only ordered 7 episodes wich makes the Oh' crap early cancelation factor go up by the same amount.
Last i read on TV Squad it got bumped up to 13 episoeds, along with JJ Abrams new show (forget the name) AND they're trying some new "Remote Free TV" commercial model with these 2 shows.
Lemme go see if i can find the article in my reader.
E Online is reporting that the show could get even frakkin' cooler -- show creator Whedon hopes to bring Battlestar Galactica writer Jane Espenson on board to pen the series, which has been upped from a seven-episode order to 13 shows.
My first thought was that Joss Whedon wouldn't quite do that, at least in the "used whore" way, but there it is in the trailer. On the other hand, it's Joss Whedon, so he's not likely to wallow in deopraved sex and will just hit on that long enough to acknowledge it. Otherwise, reminds me a bit of Pretender, which means it will rely heavily on the actors' ability to portray multiple characters. I don't think Dushku is up to that, honestly, but I could be proved wrong. I just haven't seen her demonstrate much range beyond "girrrl with attitude".

I love how they call her the BSG writer, when she worked on Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Tru Calling, and the Buffy/Angel comics. She's known Joss since he did the Buffy movie, probably even before that

I'm guessing that's cause she's doing BSG now.

Still, if you're getting paid to write for an entertainment news company, even if you're not a whedon fanboy you still have access to IMDB and a phone.

Your point is they didn't mention every thing she's worked on, or that the fact that she's worked with Whedon before is more important than her current work?

Well the pretender was awesome, shame that the lead actor went the way of Scott Bakula. Aka nowhere.

No real point, just funny that they just label BSG and not the fact she's worked with Whedon for years, which to mee seems like it would be as big as, if not a bigger selling point.

My guess is because Wired runs a lot of BSG stuff as that's more their target audience.
Of course it's on FOX, so we can expect the episodes to be aired out of order, most of the character development to get cut and replaced with sexy action scenes, and the series to get cancelled if it shows any sign of quality.
I'm boycotting this show because Whedon rapes his wife.
THINK OF HIS WIFE
What the hell are you talking about?
A while ago, someone linked the blog of some retarded feminist who claimed that Firefly unarguably proved that Whedon was an evil misogynistic women-beating rapist.

Had to be said.
That said.
Eliza Dusku is hot and I will give it a try in hopes she will replace my Dark Angel fix.
I will watch it because it is Joss Whedon, and his series have gotten progressively awesomer.
This will either be great or terrible
I was just about to say this.
It's got Helo from Galactica, so that's something. Otherwise, it looks corny.
Whedon's writing style has gotten progressively better.
Also, the premise for this show is crazy sexy.
the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
Squick. No thanks.

Wired Article which says:

Seriously. Between him, Eliza, Amy Acker (<3) I'm all kinds of excited.

but the rest of that stuff is all good
still I agree calling her a BSG writer makes the most sense since that is what she's doing at the moment.

I'll watch an ep or two for Helo and we'll see how it goes from there but frankly not expecting much

THINK OF HIS WIFE
Oh, precious.
Fox increased its order to 13 eps. It airs in Jan '09, Monday 8pm EST.
Also, it's supposed to be aired with fewer commercial/promotional breaks.
What the hell are you talking about?
To Mr. Superficial- Um, lots of tv shows are very successful without a huge want-to-bone factor. Probably the best tv shows.
