I have been asked to bring music for dancing and suchlike for my cousin's wedding reception. I was asked to bring the "latest music" and took up the task before realizing I am a total loser who likes music that no one else likes or wants to dance to at a wedding reception.
So H/A, what are the latest hits/mixes/beats/ballads appropriate for such an occasion?
Generally, a "regular" wedding with a mix of people, generally a lot of older family doesn't really want the "latest music". A pretty healthy dose of "old classics" is about all they want, plus some meaningful songs that the couple enjoy from bands they like, then specific songs for the father/daughter dance, cake cutting and so on. That certain age group of people seem to dance to the same things at every single wedding so not sure it has to be cool and edgy for the right now.
Good helping of Abba, The Beatles, Elvis, Sinatra, stuff from the Grease soundtrack, B52's.... this is what people play at weddings. (Not saying I love them all, just sayin thats what my family would want if I were getting married).
(The Wedding Singer is a pretty great movie... I don't get many chances to express my love for it so I'm gonna try slide it in here with some semi-relevance).

Are the guests generally older, younger or a mix?
