Anything exciting coming out for PS2?

I know that the PS2 is getting ready to "retire" from the gaming community. But can we expect one more great swan song before its demise? I'm not sure if there has been any "great" release for the system since God of War 2, rehashes of Guitar Hero, and [insert recent EA sports game here]. Is there anything original (i.e. not a sequel of a previous game) coming out to look forward to or should I just start saving my money for a new system?

Chaos Wars comes out this month and it looks like it might be fun. It's a Strategy/RPG that's exclusive to the PS2 and features characters from a number of different RPG series like Growlanser & Shadow Hearts.

Persona 4 is coming out towards the end of this year, I believe. I'm not sure if that's the JP, NA, or EU release date, but it's almost guaranteed to be coming out in the States, seeing how successful P3 and FES were.

Coming up? The new Hulk game and Star Wars: Force Unleashed are comin' to PS2, but those are both severly multi-platform titles that require reviews-before-rentals anyway.

I stretched my PS2 as long as it could possibly go before the heavens opened up and my tax refund allowed me to get a PS3. Devotion to my new system aside, I still have to give the PS2 props as the best gaming system ever made and the holder of the best library chock-full of masterpeices. If you're looking into getting a PS2, there's awesome games that deserve playing. If you have one but you're thinking of moving on, play the following first:

Only the best RPG of 2007 (Persona 3). The expanded version Persona 3 FES just came out last month, and if you like RPGs at all, it's 100 hours of awesome for $30 US.

"Not sequels" probably means "not PS2", yes, as it would be foolish to develop a wholly new IP for the PS2 at this late date. There are rumors, whose veracity I can't judge, that Atlus USA is likely to bring the upcoming Persona 4 to North America by the end of 2008, and NIS may have another PS2 RPG or two up its sleeve as well (I'm hoping for Ar tonelico 2 to make it over the Pacific, though I'm kind of ashamed of this fact).

Persona 4, Lego indiana Jones, Guitar Hero IV, Guitar Hero Aerosmith, another Rock band pack, Alone in the Dark, more EA sports, Star Wars TFU, Mercenaries 2, more Singstar stuff, .. that's all I got.

P4 will most likely get a release worldwide, but if you haven't played any, then PS2 SMT games are worth considering.
