This is a thread about upcoming Japanese releases and of course games that might have a chance of coming to America. The reason I'm bringing it back is that a portion of Nintendo's summer release calender came up tonight. Stolen from GAF.

Oh and a release date for FE DS. And that goofy soccer rpg. And the Grasshopper Manufactured Fatal Frame.
and Starfy.
Awesome. We have a good chance of seeing all of those games over in the west save for the bookends.

Correction. I'll see it over here when I import it. Day one that is.
Hell because of Nintendo's newfound interest in Europe the footy RPG has a decent shot, doesn't it?
I think RTG has a chance though.
Oh hells yes.
Now all we need is Golden Sun Wii
Please make this happen Camelot, please.
Apparently, all that's known about Wario Land Shake is that it has hand-drawn backgrounds and toon-shaded characters - and you know what? I think that's all I need to know to be hyped for it, despite not having played a Wario Land game since the original.

I don't understand the fanatical attitude towards golden sun.. It was an average rpg that had a lot of faults.
However Wario, Fatal Frame, Fire Emblem and others? Very yes.
I never asked for this!
Well, I figure that a lot of the love that comes from that is the visual aspect to it; many of the spells, critical attacks, and especially the summons add a lot of over-the-top flair. Yea, theres nothing more satisfying then destroying the planet to attack one enemy or throwing them into the fucking sun on a rainbow. Add to that the slightly anime-ish style, the not time consuming summon recharge system (as opposed to some others that base it on damage, etc), and the smart design of the world map along with a few unnecessary dungeons and you've got a solid formula. Yea, there were a few flaws (I don't know about there being a lot) but the only thing I had a problem with was that it was a little too easy.
I thought it was bitterly funny that Camelot turned right around and started making Mario sports games...
I think one of the big problems I had with it was just how much it dragged on and on at times. Like it would take hours and hours of absolutely nothing happening just to move the plot ever so slightly.
I never asked for this!
The Nintendo stuff is confirmed - it's apparently listed somewhere in this jumble of moon language on their website.
Take everything that isn't from Nintendo with a grain of salt.

Also, Wario Land Shake? o_O
I've always preferred the unshopped version because it gets the point across without a single word, so:
But it also did a lot of things right:
FANTASTIC dungeon design, easily amongst the best in the entire genre. Along with that is the fact that your spells are actually integrated into the world in a sensible way, which contributes to aforementioned fantastic dungeon design thanks to the wonders of Psynergy (they also had the mental capacity to figure out that random encounters in puzzle rooms = big no-no.)
The battles are extremely fast-paced, on an order that most jRPGs could only dream of, and this is with humongous, over the top, explosive animations. They also had a great job/class system via the Djinn, allowing you to play around with a lot of different skillsets. Further, they had a set of boss fights which didn't simply degenerate into 'attack, attack, heal, rinse repeat' (admittedly only really in the bonus dungeons, but still), and Dullahan is one of the best designed boss fights in a jRPG ever.
Add to that an excellent Sakuraba OST, and of course - gorgeous graphics. Golden Sun 1 was a launch game and all the way to the end of the GBA's life, it's still held up beautifully.
What it did wrong was, of course, a staple of Camelot RPGs (remember Beyond the Beyond? Yeah, now that was a crap game): Endless, repetitive, droning dialogue along with characters that are about as motivated as a wooden post. But hey, I can get past that.
Also - Golden Sun Wii = no thx. Golden Sun DS plz.

"Following Nintendo's surprise announcement of Wario Land Shake for the Wii yesterday, new details have come our way on the game.
Wario's latest adventure looks like it's being designed with both casual and hardcore gamers in mind. A side-scrolling platformer, the game makes use of 2D artwork to depict its characters and stages. The game promises a total of 20 stages, taking you through all the expected environments, including jungles, deserts, and caves.
Controls have been kept simple, with the Wiimote held horizontally and most of the action controlled with the D-pad and the 1 and 2 buttons. Nintendo is including some waggle controls as well. Shake the Wiimote up and down, and you can make Wario perform a few extra moves, like shaking coins free from an enemy you've grabbed onto. The Wiimote can also be tilted to control vehicles.
As revealed yesterday, Wario Land Shake will hit the Japanese Wii on July 24. A release outside of Japan has yet to be announced."
20 stages sounds pretty short for a platformer, but we'll see.
I had nightmares for a week, which are now resuming.
Thanks
Better and better.
Shazam.
Also while I really grew to like 3D Fire Emblem I can't wait for more talking heads and sweet ass 2D criticals.
Actually, the BK DS bit has been exactly the same since it was announced two years ago. It's still probably cancelled/in game development limbo.
