Wow, if not for flatline's bonus, I would have missed my last attack. Stupid randomness.

If we had kept missing, I would have been tempted to just cast sleep on everyone and hope it worked out for the best. Knowing my luck though, it probably would have only hit my party members.

I hate to point this out, but 'Lead the Attack' only provides a bonus to hit against the target that was hit by 'Lead the Attack'. Whom Seragon already turned to mush.

Also, Gwen already killed Slinger A lawinator. Your movement would have also provoked an opportunity attack from dragonshield C.

Just a general head's up, it might be a good idea to add a red colored note when you kill an enemy, this way it stands out more. For example:

Dire hamster takes 9 damage. It is dead.

Since the slinger was dead, I assumed Stigandr would've stayed where he was. I used that attack roll for an attack vs the Dragonshield, which was a miss.

Also, make sure you guys read up on what LS and I posted about opportunity attacks. It'd also be smart to read it in the PHB itself, which can be found on p. 290.

Gwen is up, then the rest of the crew, then back to the kobolds if they survive. Also, you guys are about an hour from town and will likely be able to find a place to take an extended rest there. In that case, give your Daily powers a shot now, rather than waste an opportunity to use them.

I probably won't be able to update again until Sunday. Hopefully, you guys will kill the kobolds before their actions come back up again. If you do, please post some fun roleplaying bits with you guys walking the rest of the way to town. Don't describe actually getting to or seeing the town, I'll handle that on Sunday. I'll also award you guys XP for this encounter that night.

We've had a few hiccups here and there, but that's to be expected. I'm really digging how everyone is really active and posting some substantial updates. Well done, all.

Shouldn't the kobold have provoked an opportunity attack from Bjorn as well for moving out of C12?

Yes, updated. Thanks for keeping me straight there. I also fixed some wonkiness where I accidentally said it was Dragonshield C that provoked the OA from Stigandr. It was B who did so.

Also, didn't Seragon increase everyone's attack roll by 3? So shouldn't his opportunity attack have hit?

Check out Last Son's post. Seragon's power only gave us a boost against the target he hit with it, which is dead now.

I would use my daily power but I don't think it would help at this point. I think I'll have Flaming Sphere ready for the next day instead of Sleep, since that would have helped a lot more in this fight.

Alrighty, since we're now out of the encounter I'm going to take the time to fix a screw up I did when creating my character. Somehow I missed the fact that Rangers start with proficiency in Shortbows and took the Weapon Proficiency(Short Bows) feat, so I'm going to get rid of that and instead take "Lethal Hunter"; that ok mightyspacepope?

So can I use some of my skills at this point to do some investigation? For example, since I assume kobolds are natural creatures, can I use the Nature skill to try to figure out where their lair might be, who might be leading them, or something similar? I'd also probably like to use Arcana to see if they're carrying anything magical on them.

Sure, describe how you investigate the bodies, make the rolls for the related skills, and I'll post your findings tonight.

    IC update.

If you decide to take any of the kobolds' stuff, let me know in the OOC thread here. I'm assuming you'll split the gold six ways, so everyone gets 5 gp.

To make things easy on me, if you decide to split up, try to do so in two groups of three. If you want to collaborate with other players to make group posts, feel free. Remember that it's night time, so you'll probably have to wait until daybreak to do much besides hit the tavern.

Also, note that the kobold mentioned "Ironteeth," not "Irontooth."

Everyone takes 150xp for the previous encounter.

You guys actually have heard the name "Ironteeth".
As the kobold slinger falls, the remaining kobold warriors glance at each other. The one surrounded by Seragon and Stigandr appears ready to flee. The one engaging Bjorn hisses at him and rebukes him, yelling, "Stand and fight, coward! Ironteeth will not take it kindly if you decide to scamper away with your tail between your legs!"

You have no idea who or what it actually is, though.

Will try to have more setting info posted later tonight, after a fuller update about town shenanigans.

    The world:
    landho.gif
Credit to lzrmcdoogal for the awesome map.

    Here are some fast facts:

    Geography

-You guys are in Winterhaven, which is a small village located within the larger region of Albright, which is under the rule of Lord Albright, a kindly and benevolent older human male. Albright is one of several predominately human areas on the Western continent. Albright himself is a well-respected leader throughout the lands. On the map, Winterhaven would be somewhere north of the dot marking "Albright".

-Grundlewood was once the cosmopolitan center of humanity. It was destroyed about a hundred years ago by an undead army (the ninth time the city was destroyed, the second it was destroyed by an undead army). Despite the fact that it is periodically destroyed, people keep coming back to Grundlewood and rebuilding it.

-Dredhaven is a rough and tumble sort of city. Peoples of various races dwell or visit here, often looking for unsavory work. A lot of the "monstrous" races come and go here as they please, without facing the prejudice or downright hatred/killing they'd find in "civilized" areas. Orcs, goblins, kobolds, dwarves, elves, humans, gnolls, etc all mix here.

-Grundleport is the prominent port town in the West. If you're traveling to or from either continent, Grundleport will probably be your stop. It has a rough section and a more upscale section.

-Farefall is the major halfling city. It is located underneath of Dwarrowdune, the major Dwarven city. An uneasy nonviolence pact exists between the two.

-Luthoria is an Eladrin city. Think Rivendell from LotR. Elves live in the forest area throughout the eastern continent.

-Shadowwood is a dark, mystical forest. You don't want to go there until you're higher level.

-The island on the south tip of the map is uncharted, but indubitably badass.

    History

-About 100 years ago, a great undead army swept across both continents, originating somewhere in the southeast. Only through the efforts of the combined forces of the various nations and races was the undead army defeated. A large portion of this came from the warforged, magical constructs built for war, but granted sentience.
    Warforged001_qjpreviewth.jpg

-Albright was one of the leaders during this campaign against the undead, along with the various leaders of the other races. He still maintains good relations with them (even if some of the races themselves don't get along with each other).

-The great Dragonforged Empire was also a large factor in the victory, although the war left their empire in shambles.

-The occasional undead creature is still seen around the lands, but they are generally created through some magical means and don't elicit the panic that they once did. The public at large doesn't think the undead will become a large problem again.

-Thousands of years ago, there was a terrible war between two elven factions, which split the race in two (Eladrin and Elves). The two forces met and did battle, with millions falling on either side. The blood of these elves fed the trees living in the area, creating the Shadowwood, a poorly understood, but unquestioningly sinister land/tree/crafting material.
