Why the fuck would you beat a baby?

You have to. Otherwise they're too chewy.

What is worse about that baby beating story is that he was beating the child for many minutes before police turned up, and at least a dozen passers by were unable to stop him.

    Let me repeat.

Twelve people stood by while a man brutally murdered a tiny baby because collectively they couldnt or wouldnt take him down.

    Fuck.

If any one of those people would have not been completely lacking in empathy, a baby might not have died a slow, violent, painful death.

So, I'm friends with this guy who has a brother-in-law that's a real asshole: steals, lies, shits the bed (according to a story from his ex-wife). Well, the top-teir piece of bullshit he's done is squeezing his 2 month old daughter so hard it cracked three ribs and caused long-lasting bruising and probably some brain damage. Recently he got sent to jail for 11 years. His first day there thirty people tried to jump him (I didn't get the full details but I'm assuming it was one large group) and they have to keep him in sollitary for the rest of his stay. We used to discuss his odds of getting raped to death.

So yeah, maybe they shouldn't have shot him.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe, and from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip-malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moments lost in time; gone like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die.

in all honesty the baby was probably dead in the first stomp

the onlookers were probably not too enthused about trying to stop a raving lunatic from kicking around a bloody bag of meat at that point

There was still a chance, though.

Baby skulls can take more trauma than you'd think, and I doubt he started with the curb-stomping. That's the sort of thing you build up to. The kid probably would have been retarded, but I'd rather be retarded than dead.

It was an elderly couple who saw the guy beating the baby. They tried to intervene but obviously there's only so much you can do against someone probably on drugs when you're like 80 years old.

80 year olds can still jump on the baby as if it were some kind of grenade

Okay, so the elderly couple is awesome. What about everybody else? Old people trying to stop a drugged-up lunatic from beating a baby to death, and nobody else jumps in? Even if they still couldn't have stopped him, they might have bought a little more time.

Yeah, you kind of do have a moral responsibility to step in. With that said, physically restraining a drug addled psychopath is quite a lot to ask.

Your average baby gets smacked in the head a lot without any major trauma. Since their skulls are so soft, they're a lot harder to crack. You either have to rock them around so much that the brain gets screwed up from the twisting and turning and colliding, or you gotta smoosh it like a grape.

While a fully-reasoned person may be able to kill a baby without effort, a flailing dust-head might take a couple tries.

A lot to ask for someone to succeed, not a lot to ask for someone to try. You could survive the experience, a baby couldn't.

This kind of prison justice, I dont know how to feel about it.

How child molesters, rapists etc get treated worse by other inmates, who potentially are murderers, arsonists and all kinds of horrible shit.

Part of me thinks thats great. That these horrible people actually have a line, that killing/harming children is fucking crossing such line and oh boy you are gonna have a long stay in this prison asshole.

On the other hand, seems kind of a contradiction to the whole situation. Or something. Just appears like an almost false redemption on their part.

regardless, shooting that guy was wrong. for his suffering is over just as quick as the childs. that kind of crap you shouldnt get away with, and in some instances, getting shot dead by police is a form of escaping the law.

If he wouldn't have been shot, he would have had his room and board paid for thirty years or so, assuming he didn't get off on a technicality. You'll recover from getting beaten and sodomized a few times. You won't recover from being dead.
