Whut whuuuut!
Season 2 begins y'all. The ten crews are set to bring the house down. There's some seriously impressive talent going on this year. For those who missed the live auditions, let's review, shall we?
A.S.I.I.D (And So It Is Done)
I thought these guys were pretty solid, but most of all I felt like they got accepted for the next round because the dude with the floppy hair on the left is deaf....yeah that's right, like
super deaf. Honestly I only see them getting as far as the fat girl on Next Top Model. But I'm told the fat girl just won last season so...
Boogie Bots
Citing Voltron, Transformers and Power Rangers as inspiration, these guys are solid. Their pop and locking style is well tuned and could take them all the way. Personally I favor the small groups like this. Though it's tight, their style has been seen before quite a bit. Will they have what it takes to step it up enough from last season and stay in the game? Only time will tell.
Distorted X Eliminated in round 1
Sporting 5 girls, 2 queens and an apparently unlimited supply of American Apparel Summer Shirts, these guys bring a distinctly female style to the table. Most groups with a mix tend to combine the strengths of both genders, but the two technically male members of the group look like they'd be more comfortable in drag than breaking down anything in the vein of the classic b-boy style. I don't see them getting very far.
Fanny Pack
Since this is apparently the Gay Pride season of the show, they decided to go with the two groups that rate highest on the gay-o-meter. Honestly though, these guys aren't half bad. They have a style in both clothing and dance that really sets them apart from everyone else, and what's better is that they're actually good at it. On top of that, I enjoyed their music selection over everyone else's. However, I foresee the guys from this group getting caught up in some ratings-spiking drama when one of them makes out with both of the guys in Distorted X and everyone gets jealous.
Phresh Select
Primarily classic contemporary hip hop, these guys are talented, tight and altogether unmemorable. They have the skills and the attitude, no doubt about it, but they're going to have to get some new material if they expect to beat some of this competition. So far this year, the groups that stand out are the ones that do the classic styles above and beyond everyone else, or the ones that bring some originality to the table. Sadly, these guys do neither.
Sass X 7Boring. This is America's Best Dance Crew, not America's Sauciest Half-Time Show. These girls are classically trained in cheerleading, partying and shopping with daddy's credit card. Let's see if they can give enough blow jobs to make it past the first round.
SoReal Crew
Solid through and through, these guys remind me most of Kaba Modern from last season and that is by no means a bad thing. Though their actual audition didn't have my jaw on the floor or anything, their fluidity as a group and their open-mindedness in the choreography department show a whole shit load of potential. I foresee them just getting better and better as the season progresses.
Super Cr3w
Despite the super cheesy spelling of their name, they are by far my favorite. These guys bring a super classic, almost 80's style B-Boy step to the game. Most of these crews have one, maybe two members who can really throw down and pull out the stunts and floor work, but every single one of these guys can flare it, mill it and stand it with the best of them. Not only do they have all the skills but you can really see a lot of their culture and heart in their step. Definitely a crew to watch out for.
Supreme Soul
Li'l Mama straight up said that the S's on their jackets stood for Second Season because she thinks they're going to take it. The first thing they said when they came on the show was that they battled Jabbawockeez (last season's champs) so I was immediately dubious, but they brought it and they brought it hard. These guys have the style and skill to make it all the way and they know it. But will their cocky swagger and over-confidence leave the door wide open for one of the other super-talented crews?
Xtreme Dance Force
These guys drove their matching street racers in from the suburbs, hit the stage, popped their collars and did a dance piece about beer pong and date-rape. Afterwards, their fearless leader, Chad Sexington, asked the sexy interviewer if she wanted to join the other members, Tad and Brad, and himself for a "party" in their "suite." I don't think she declined. Seriously, these guys are a joke and I really hope they don't make it any where.
So there it is folks. These ten crews will be facing off in the next few weeks to try and claim the title. I'll update this OP as the weeks go on. Who are you voting for?

I got into it last season when I happened to surf past Break Sk8 doing one of their routines and holy shit it was awesome. I understand why they didn't win, but they were pretty cool.
Oh Also, if anyone wants to watch the full auditions episode and make up their own opinions, you can find the whole thing here: http://www.mtv.com/overdrive/?id=1588855

Some serious moves, dogs.
I dig your steps,...dog.
At first, i was really irritated with Katee and the whole "won't try out next year if rejected" drama, but she has grown on me.
I concur.
Let's geek out about this and Top Chef this weekend
The level of skill required to be on this show is way over SYTYCD. Seriously, the breakin' that goes down on this show is insane. One of the dudes from Super Cr3w planted his foot on another dude's back (who was standing straight up) and did a fucking back flip off it. It was like when people run up a wall and flip off, but the wall was a dude.

I am down. I missed last nights episode though, because my roomie watched it while i was at work. so you can spoil that for me in retaliation for the top chef viewer's choice spoiler.
also, i really wish they chose the other guy instead of Gev for the last guy. That other dude was seriously amazing in his try outs. My theory is that they were thinking "whoops, too many black dudes" even though the guy was super duper talented and classically trained. which is unfair.
i'm sorry, but when your runner up is a group on roller skates, i can't take you seriously as a reality show. I mean, yeah, roller skate breakdancing is neat and awesome, but cmon.
Dude that was last season and those guys barely made it half way. They were cool as a novelty act, but they couldn't really hack it. Personally I don't think comparing the two is fair and I like them both. I just am way more into the dance crew culture and I feel like it's a lot more entertaining to watch.

(also, i have noticed a large number of filipinos in America's Best Dance Crew. just a side note)
Wasn't Hoiwk (Hawk?) from SYTYCD filipino/aussie last year?
He was incredible.
My favorite this year is Twitch... or "Twitchington"; the chick is cool too.
Yeah, twitch is pretty good. Glad he made it in. I have a feeling the same deal is gonna happen to the last guy cut from the top 20 this season. Also, the other breakdancer/hip hop guy partnered with katee.

It sure is, 10pm tonight, I'll be reporting the outcome in here for all who miss it/are interested.

First of all, the premiere was last night and it was pretty rad. Two of the most favored crews got on stage and sucked eachothers balls. However, my boys, Super Cr3w, tore the shit out of it. After their performance Shane Sparks (one of the judges) who had been being really hard on everyone all night, straight up said "Y'all just shit on everybody."
If you missed it, Watch it here!
It ended up being the 5 girls and 2 queens, Distorted X that got kicked off, but they didn't deserve it.

Also, this show has inspired me to get back into the real breakin' I used to do. Anyone in the Seattle area who wants to join me for some B-Boy classes should definitely come with. Callius, for some reason this seems like it might be your thing.

and yeah, super cr3w was amazing. i was really shocked by who was in the bottom 5.
I actually don't know of any other dancers in SE++ but it would be cool to find some.

seriously? Super Cr3w? seriously?
