I work 13-hour overnight shifts, 6pm - 7am, 3 days a week. Been doing it for about 2 years now. I believe it will kill me if I keep it up, seriously I feel like its aging me at an excellerated rate. On the days I don't work I try to go back to sleeping at night, but I find myself getting drowsy at 7pm, fight past that, then I'm completely awake till 2am.
Anyone else deal with this, or radically changing sleep patterns in general?
Invisible nap is the best nap of all time!
No man should have that kind of power.(Twitter)
I'm so glad school is over with
That means I can get my sleep schedule righted around so that I sleep during the day
Of course by the time I get comfortable with this it'll be time to leave for college
If I went to bed now, the probability of my friend calling and crying on my shoulder when she wakes up would approach 1 rapidly
And she wakes up at like 7
You other guys seriously survive on only about 4-5 hours of sleep a day? Do you crash out on a weekend night and go into a coma or something?
Shit yeah man
It's called night shift + high school
Get home at 1:30, shower and eat, in bed about 2:30, and get up at 6 to get ready for school
Thank god for bullshit classes the first few periods, those were great naps
I don't get how so many people can just get by without sleep
I need 7+ hours a night or I am nearly comatose all day
Contrast this with my one friend, who sometimes just decides to pull an all-nighter and faces no consequences for it. During finals he didn't sleep for two days

You've probably heard this already, but don't attempt that shit freshman year of college. You'll think you're skating along just fine, napping in class, maybe skipping a few classes, and then when the exam comes, you'll mysteriously fail. People fail out of college that way. Don't fuck around. If you need extra motivation, look at your tuition. Drop room and board if you like. Hell, even drop BOOKS if you like. Divide tuition by the number of hours you're supposed to be in class. That's the price of one hour of class. Don't skip.
I make up at 7:30 in the morning and don't tend to go to bed until like two a.m. most nights, which is a problem that I deal with by taking naps in the afternoon between work and class.
Oh yeah god no
I'm quitting this job when I leave home in two months, I'll get a daytime job once I get to college
This is a temporary situation brought on by sheer desperation for cash
Also I got home from school on occasion and just sacked out. Like, from 4 till 8 I was just gone
But especially not in your first year, when you have no idea of how badly it fucks you up. By your second year, you will have seen other people fail out or get grades lower than the minimum GPA for graduation. And remember, getting a high GPA early on is easy, because the courses are easy. Later, it's hard. So pulling up a failed GPA after fucking up on the freebie As they hand you in freshman year is extra punishing.

it's true
i fucked up a lot in freshman year because it was CS and i was working midnights, so i slept in class a lot
now i have an A- average but it's because i'm awesome
it is severely unlikely that you are as awesome as me
my first year i did good
well first semester anyway
3 distinctions and 2 passes for the 2 half credit maths subjects that had lectures at 8am that i always turned up halfway through and sat in the front row and fell asleep
after that it dropped off
second year first semester i didnt wanna do my course anymore and was trying to get into this other program which i didnt get and in the meantime failed 3 out of 5 subjects that semester
came back the next year repeating that shit and got a high distinction in the subject that caused the most trouble
but im basically just on passes now but its cool cos its engineering so shouldnt be hard to find work afterwards, unlike say economics where theres a million kids doing it and everyone applies for the same jobs

I skipped classes in College all the time
Some I didn't even go to other than the Midterm and Final
No the night's for working in a kitchen, putting away dishes and emptying the trash
I honestly believe that everyone should work in a kitchen for a couple of months
That's motivation to do well in college, right there
I do everything better at night, and can generally run at full capacity without much sleep.
Or at least, I could. Every year that shit becomes more and more impossible. People need to get into a regular sleep cycle at a young age or it will come back to bite you on the ass.

I don't ever want to work in a kitchen because people who work in a kitchen start to admire Gordon Ramsay.
Used to work on a NOAA ship. We had four-hour shifts, and they changed around every couple of weeks so you never knew when you could get eight straight hours off. I got used to sleeping in four hour blocks twice a day and working in between.
That'll fuck a man up. I don't know how the lifers did it.

I spend summers mostly drilling into concrete, digging trenches around houses, or crawling under houses and digging trenches under individual piers.
Sometimes this motivates me to stay in school. Sometimes it makes me want to do it for a living considering the amount of dollar the business owner makes on termite work.

I wake up at 6:30 AM, every day.
and "6:30AM" with "3:00AM"
Now I'm in the plateroom and I work in the middle of the day.
In a couple weeks I'm switching to mornings!
Though tonight is my last night of doing this.

All your juices flow more freely at night.
Like penis juice, get it?
When the sun goes away God isn't watching anymore.
no, my performance goes gradually downhill until I am basically Edward Norton in fight club without a sexy alternate personality
also: severe depression
and then i finally manage to sleep in and things are ok for about a month

Then by the time I was in a university, most of my classes were program specific so they were also small, and I knew better than to skip.
A freshman at a university where most of the classes have hundreds of people in them and no role taking, yeah that messes a lot of people up.
Whoo no money + a change in majors in February whooo
Especially when it's Calculus at 8:30 AM taught by a guy so boring we figured he was probably secretly either Superman or Indiana Jones.
then i switched majors
Haha liberal arts degrees are great.
i was pretty proud of that
