when i was younger i had recurring nightmares about thieves coming to our house and talking their way inside

then they killed my parents (except for one where they'd already killed my dad by the time they showed up and then they killed my mom)

    that was weird

I don't get it. Am I the only person whose dreams are nothing flashes of colour and faces? Sometimes I do wake up scared, despite not remembering a thing, but that hardly counts, right? All this talk of trailer parks and haunted mansions makes me envious :(

Its taken me over 20 years of dreaming to learn to fly correctly. I can still remember the first one, it wasn't so much flying but floating hops in the front yard of my elementary school. Landing was, and still is, the hard part. I have to focus and push myself back down. Sometimes I still can't land and find myself pressed up against the ceiling with no way out or down.

Some dreams I get really cruising. Crashing through windows or weaving between industrial smoke stacks. Other thing about landing is avoiding power and cable lines, cuz they're freaking everywhere and I always manage to clip one.

Ever since I was a kid I had this weird series of reaccuring dreams about me crating a Slider's like device that lets me travel between worlds. Except instead of just different worlds its like worlds that exist in fiction, like the Dragon Ball universe, and Narnia and stuff. And every time I leave a world I retain something, and item an ability something like that, that I can use, but not in other fiction worlds, only in "Space between Space" type worlds like World's End in Chrono Trigger. And theres reaccuring characters, like the Dark King, a guy who has his sons and him basically taking over all the worlds and recruiting the bad guys into his army trying to find the "Prime World" (not ours actully, in my dream ours was made up by someone else). And I fight them and I get help from this crazy old dude that lives in a universe thats blank but his home and he guards the gates of time and space.

Well about 2 weeks ago I had my final dream of this, so far...it seemed like a finale. I came home and was using my newfound abilities to fight evil and stuff, but realisied that after living the lives of hundreds of men, I didn't really fit in anymore so I went to find the Keeper guy, only to find him dying of old age after thousands of years and have him tell me that he was ME, and I must take up the mantel and help guide the younger me who would show up.

    Its....pretty fucked up.

Also I use to have nightmares about a dark boogie man chasing me, no matter what I did he always got me. Which is why I know that if Fredy Kugaer was real he'd be able to take me.

I once had a dream where I was sitting at my computer terrified for some reason. I sensed something behind me so I kind of turned just enough to catch a glimpse of what was there in the corner of my eye and saw a man's silhouette. Immediately I turned back towards the computer as if it would go away by not looking at it. Then the figure suddenly spins my chair around and just starts cutting me in half at the waist with a chainsaw. Like all nightmares really it quickly lost its impact, and it seems like such a lame "slasher" dream as I'm sitting here typing it out. But for the couple seconds I was getting chainsawed, I distinctly remember the feeling of "wow my life is going to end in about 3 seconds, this is it and then I'm dead" being so real. Also I didn't really feel any pain from it but there was this strong "heat" which kind of remained even after I woke up

90% of my sleep is like this, where I feel like I've just "skipped" the time between going to bed and waking up. Getting a really good dream seems to be pretty random, but more likely if I get to sleep in. For some reason I also seem more likely to have vivid dreams if I wake up in the morning then go back to sleep again

I had a dream a couple years ago where I was the passenger in a car going down this winding mountain road. The driver was a friend and was absolutely hammered. The whole time I just knew some bad shit was gonna go down, and finally we went off the edge, flipped, and smashed upside down into the canyon below. Everything went black and in the dream I knew I had died.

Suddenly, at the bottom of my view, like the subtitles on some cheap artsy Italian movie, the text "God before all others" appeared.

I'm completely not religious at all. Obviously God knew this and was trying to play hardball. Fuck you God, I'm still gonna have pre-marital sex every Sunday instead of going to church.

you must be exhausted when you go to bed

as i understand the sleep cycle is a balance between physical restoration and psychological restoration (or whatever you want to call it). the body addresses physical needs first in the deepest stages of sleep and slowly works towards shallower sleep wherein you dream before going back down to deep sleep. the longer you sleep, the more the balance shifts away from physical needs towards psychological needs, so you tend to dream more towards the end of a good night's sleep. but if you're really physically exhausted you'll spend a whole lot more time in deeper dreamless sleep.

i swear there were nights in military school where i was so tired that i blinked and it was morning. never once broached REM sleep.

I once had a dream back when I was a fairly lucid dreamer. I had just gotten out of this weird labyrinth and emerged into this wide open plain at night with a huge moon hovering above dark clouds. Ahead of me was a small section of a putt-putt course with a wind-mill.

Standing there, fully decked out in professional golf-wear was what I instinctually felt to be my conscience. He taught me to play a bit and we did a few holes around the wind-mill. I looked up at the sky after one of my rounds and saw the sky immediately darken and storm clouds roll across the horizon like ink.

Looking back at my conscience I saw that he too had noticed the drastic change in weather. He gave me the worst "You poor bastard look" and shouted that he had to go as he took his putter and ran off back to the labyrinth.

I turned around and noticed that the dark and tangled forest that had once been so far off on the horizon as to be barely noticeable was now at my feet, corrupt and encroaching upon the green.

I brought a flash-light into existence and probed the darkness of the forest for whatever I felt lurking in there. The light shined upon two small disks as I swept the tangled dark. I quickly brought the light back....but it was too late. The Thing in The Forest dashed through the overgrown grasses right up to me, bursting from the overgrowth and snarling with hate.

I had a breif glimps at my murderer before I was thrust back into the waking world. A little girl, flesh paled as if from a drowning. Black hair wet and sticking to her face. A wide maw of needle-like teeth widening to encompass my face. And two disks, like mirrors, instead of eyes.

I was just remembering an ongoing series of dreams I had in a fictional dream city. Not scary at all most of the time, but I haven't dreamed about the place in ages and suddenly today I recalled the layout of the city and where each of the zones of the city was such as the industrial area, residential, downtown, and the waterfront. There was even an aquarium that for some reason I had a series of dreams about and I can still recall how some of the exhibits were laid out and I also recall dreaming several times about going on night dives under the pier of this fictional city.
    How odd.

I have these in spurts throughout the years. It's like going from one world to the next because you always dream of the same place and people. Unfortunately, my always involve someone trying to murder me.

I had this recurring dream when I was seven or eight

and every time it was exactly the same

I would climb the main stairway in my house, slowly and deliberately

this stairway overlooks the front door at the top, after turning at the landing

anyway, I climb this staircase, which is a good 15 feet off the ground at the top (it looks like a lot more when you are that young) and when I reach the top I climb onto the banister, balancing perfectly on it, and then jump off, arms spread, face to the ground

I had this dream a good thirty times or so, if I remember correctly

it's mundane as all hell compared to the rest of this thread but I was always sort of afraid that one day I'd deliberately kill myself like this, powerless to stop it

When I was 12 I watched Dawn of the Dead, the original.

Couple days later I had what I can officially call "the worst dream of my life."

My family had turned into zombies and I was running from them. I ran downstairs and got the shotgun out of the wine closet, knowing what was necessary.

Under the orange light which hung above the driveway I shot each member of my family in the head as they shuffled toward me. The last, and worst, was my seven year old younger brother.

one time when I was also pretty young I had this dream

I was in my room, and something terrible was happening, but I can't remember what anymore

so I ran out of it and down the hall to my parent's room, and opened the door

the entire room was tinted this hellish red color, and the walls were covered with hanging pots and pans

my parents were nowhere to be seen

there were little imps all over the place, sneering at me and menacing me and laughing at me

it was like the fucking devils kitchen in there

I probably woke up sometime after

I had lots of dreams that predicted the future, it was really weird

i get this to like the 30th power

i had a dream once where i was in a house i was never in before

with people i had never met

talking about someone i didn't know

like 6 months later i am up for a debate tournament in a city an hours drive away and my bus leaves me on random accident

i end up staying at my friends boyfriends house

    that was the house

best part, in my dream 3 kids around 10ish were playing megaman on a fold out while i was talking to the one person in the dream i recognized (my friend)

when i had realized this was the same place as my dream i told them about this and he was like "hey don't worry the kids all went to sleep at 10" (it was around 3 am) 5 seconds later one of them runs up and when asked why he was still up he replied "were about to beat megaman. we're on the last boss"

i got chills and could barely sleep that night

also this is one of my better dreams quoted from my blargh
so i had the best dream in the universe last night and i somehow still remember it all very vividly which is the best thing. if you didn't think i was crazy before this you will in a minute

so it was my last day of work at an upscale mall owned by a super rich person who had decided to live in a closed off wing of the mall so after the mall closed down all of the employees sat down in his wing to watch a movie on the projector. after the previews they paused the movie and held a science fair. the only one i saw (it was parked next to me) seemed to involve testing pH levels in a dixie cup with a coffee filter, some markers, and popsicle sticks.

when they were about to give the results for the test a herd of velociraptors entered the room and started attacking everyone they could get to. everyone but me seemed to have a gun on them, so i borrowed one from a friend who had two (a small pistol) and went to help kill the raptors. with a few near misses we took out most of the raptors. and when i went to save one of the groups from a group of 3 raptors they went ballistic and started shooting at everythign they saw. apparently the fear had driven them crazy. with no prospects of making them sane again and a higher death toll if we let them run around, so it became us vs raptors vs the insane. so we got back to work

apparently i was really good friends with one of the guys because we covered eachother a lot and he was the one that lent me the gun but we got split up when we went for 2 groups at once, he went for raptors, i went for the crazy people. after taking them and a few other groups out a huge group of people charged out of a corridor and i almost shot them before i realized it was my friend and a bunch of the people without guns, and people who were to scared to fight. we started ushering them out the back door when we noticed one of the insane had managed to find a rocket launcher, and was about 20 yards away, with it trained on the group. i managed to get everyone out of the way and hit the person as he let off a round. it missed the group and hit one of the ball shaped domes behind us. we thought we were safe but as we turned aroundone of the group noticed that it was on fire. he seemed to think it was pretty cool looking but it meant the tower was coming down. we got everyone out of the way to avoid the falling dome which almost crushed my leg. we had about half a foots width to descend to saftey and now the building was on fire. the fire extinguishers went off and started putting out the fire but there was smoke everywhere and it was impossible to see on the inside. so we went outside and started shooting all the windows to let it air out.

when it was clear enough of the smoke was out to where we could evacuate everyone else i left my friend with the survivors and went back in to get more. as i came up a flight of stairs to a floor where a bunch of survivors were huddled together i passed 2 raptors, who looked up. apparently uninterested in combat they bent back down and resumed talking. it seems they were looking at a map of the place and were and planning. i didn't bother to figure out why they had a map because more people needed to be helped so i moved on. eventually we got all the hostages out and when i turned around after evacuating the last group people had started pulling merchandise out away from the now decimated building. whether they were looting it for personal gain or not i never got to find out, because as i went back in to help i heard a knock ay my door and woke up.

i wonder what happened to the map reading raptors.

    i guess I'll never know

I had this fucked up dream once.
I wasn't in it, I was watching it, sort of like a ghost.
In the future, the Earth was a waste dump, and there weren't any females. At all. So these astronauts were sent to a planet that looked livable, so that the human race could at least sort of enjoy the last little bit of their existence. they landed on the planet, and were attacked by some wierd creatures. they were injured, and they were hungry. they shot down the beasts, but they weren't edible. they found some edible plants, and ate them. The next morning, they woke up without any wounds and feeling better, faster, and stronger than ever. but, they also woke up as females! so while the human race would eventually live again, some had to sacrifice their manhood.
    it was reallllly weird.

I woke up lying on my back in the middle of the bed screaming gibberish, with my arms splayed out torwards the edges of the bed, and I could see blood gushing from my wrists, spilling out onto the floor. Not only that, but the parts of the floor that weren't coated in blood were on fire, and these small, dog sized creatures would climb up out of the puddles of blood and run off into the fire, and there had to be about twenty of them running around in the flames and blood around the bed.

Then Rachel came to the bedroom door and yelled at me and the hallucination vanished and I pretty much didn't get any more sleep last night after that.

I have quite alot of these shit. I write them down, and I'll grab some the next time im on my home computer. Anyway I seem to have alot involving the 4 Minute Warning, you know the old cold war thing where they said that you would have four minutes when the alarm goes off? Scares the fucking shit out of me. Ultra realistic dreams, me sitting, just chillin with some friends, maybe having some beer or something, then the air raid sirens go off. and everyone just starts losing it, proper panicking, trying to phone people, crying screaming, sometimes i have to run threw crowded street full of people panicking, mothers abandoning children, husbands leaving wifes, cars left abandoned in the streets. If I am with my friends in the dream they abandon me, run away. Most of the time i wake up just as the bomb hits, but sometimes, just sometimes, I stay in there long enough to feel the air pressure change, feel the blast wave screaming towards us. and I use the word screaming correctly, because it sounds like screaming. I've woken people up because of these things. proper, waking up, drenched in sweat screaming aloud night terrors.

Would wish them on my worst enemy, thats for sure.

One time it was a small house in a green field with trees, the other time it was an appartment with a small in front (indoors)

Anyways, for what seemed like hours I was watching that, with dream-reality and dream-movie interchanging randomly, meaning sometimes I was that person myself
And with every attempt to get inside that house/appartment, it somehow became more apparent that what was inside was truly horrible

In a last attempt to get inside the house, the actor tries it with a small RC controlled air plane, so that he can at least see what's inside. Watching the camera on a monitor

When the plane enters through a window, I turn in my cinema seat to my girlfriend, trying to tell her that I'm happy I'm not that guy
While I turn towards her, reality changes, and what was visible on the camera monitor in the movie suddenly is what is around me, replacing cinema seats and everything

From the corner of my right eye I see an old room with torn white wallpaper, turned yellow from age, and old broken furnitur

Suddenly, a feeling of utter horror captures me and I start to scream, so much in that I wake up from it

I haven't had a scary dream for a couple years. I thought you just grow out of them.

Reality is much more terrifying than anything I can imagine.
