If this game wasn't coming out right in the middle of Okami, FF3 and 12, and the Wii, I'd be all over it. As such, however, I am forced to skip it due to lack of funds.
that's what i'd like to know, too. also, some of the art on the bottom screen is gorgeous.
Were the Earthbound games actually big hits back in the day, rather than merely cult favourites with the sort of people who read this forum? Just curious.
Earthbound basically flopped in America, but it was really big in Japan. (That and its prequel.) This is pretty much why we haven't gotten Mother 3/EB2 yet.
I'm debating getting this on day one, now. I've been waiting for it for a while, but I'm afraid it'll be short and not worth the full 30$. For any of you importers or reviewers out there: How long do you think it is, and is it replayable?

My local EB says they'll definitely get it in on the 18th.
Which makes me all a-tingle inside.
But my question is... And I've been waiting for a really innovative, or at least a fun and quirky RPG to make me forget about exams for ages. ..
Should I get Contact or Rocket Slime?
My friends are tripping over their boners for Rocket Slime. My girlfriend can't stop talking how cute he is (damn estrogen). And Etoy's review makes the game seem pretty rad. Think Contact would be harder to find?
Also, be on the lookout for Touch Detective. That's what i am playing now, and it's pretty keen. I should make a video of it.
Etoy, I must defeat you in combat and eat your heart so that I may gain your powers. Contact and Touch Detective are my two must-haves this fall. (Well, that and Guitar Hero 2.) I have an old Touch Detective/Hotel Dusk thread here that's gaining dust rapidly. If you did make a video of it, would you be awesome and post a link here? Much love.

Rocket Slime is a Square-Enix game, which means odds are it'll be available pretty readily for years to come. Contact is an Atlus-published game, which means it could easily disappear from shelves within two weeks and you'll have to pay a premium for it on eBay.
Rocket Slime also looks totally badass, but I'm going by potential availability problems, which means Contact for me! (And Touch Detective, 'cause that's Atlus-published, too.)
Rocket Slime sales have been pretty horrible, which is a shame for two reasons. First, it's a great game, and if we still had a DS thread I would be pimping it daily. Second, it's a Dragon Quest game, and if it sells horribly I worry that SE won't continue to bring Dragon Quest over here (at least the spin-off series).

Is it really selling that badly? That's a shame.

Less than 16,000 for the first ten days.
On topic: I have money on this at EB, I hope it's worth the wait. Did Sleep ever get his review up?

It's such a delightful game that just about anyone with basic reading ability could have fun with. That really sucks.
I'm sure it sold/is selling fine in Japan though. And given the general prosperity of the DS there and here I'd think ANY Dragon Quest product on the DS will get a translation for the US. There's only so many Mana and Final Fantasy products SquareEnix can put out in a single quarter in the US, so I wouldn't worry too much.
I mean hell, Torneko: The Last Hope made it here on the PSX somehow.

It's possible that EB will be getting it late and the POS hasn't updated. I know my store got Clubhouse games a day late, and it wasnt do to shiping problems.
This is the game I've been waiting for. I'll be getting this and my black DS Lite on Wednesday. I've got Hori screen protectors and a full body Best Skin Ever set waiting for it at home. Then the launch DS will go into a peaceful hibernation, until it's needed for multiplayer.
First post from my bitchin' new phone's browser. Woo.
I haven't played a game in almost a year now thanks to the workload I have at school. I'll be lucky to take it out of the box.
Still, the fact I won't be able to play it doesn't make me any less ancy to run to the store the instant wednesday rolls around. Christmas break is going to be one helluva game cram time.
talked to our atlus rep; said it ships tomorrow. can't wait to pick it up.
How's that possible? The EB system says the 19th. The website says the 19th. I think your Atlus rep is cracked in the head. Unless you're not in the US?

So Contact is the third most wanted DS game on Gamefly according to this article
"Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis remained on top of the Nintendo DS chart for the week, followed Nintendo's upcoming Nintendogs: Dalmation & Friends and Atlus' adventure game Contact."
Dunno if that means anything, but cool.
But if it weren't for Nintendo Dogs, it would be in second place, and it surely would be shipping sooner! :0

FFIII will be around forever.
Theres a solid chance that Contact wont be.
the postal service can suck it.

I've read like 2 reviews and they say it isn't that great. The combat sucks, or something.
The gamer in me wants Final Fantasy III... But the collector worries that Contact may not be around long.
"Contact: October 20th"
I reserved mine about an hour ago and the POS said October 19th.
Also, the shipping date here is now the 19th as well.
