In case someone wants to bite on this, mirrored from the other forum I post on:
So, I'm planning a Team Fortress 2 map.

I'd like someone to draw me a reference for it.

It's very generic, but I'd like a large mining project set just outside a large hill/mountain, with mine tracks leading into it. It should be set in the middle of the desert. The area outside the mine will be fenced in and dotted with various buildings. The tracks will lead out to a government-facility-esque entrance (i.e. a large horizontally sliding fence with a guard station), which lead to a set of train tracks and a road that stretches as far as can be seen in both directions. The mines will stretch pretty far, and have a few larger open areas, with a lot of overlapping tracks. I don't really have any specific ideas for the mine portion, so go crazy. The mines will, however, connect to a secret underground base, where the tracks continue. I've not really decided what the payload (cart with a bomb on it) is going to destroy, so if you want to include that in your concept design, feel free to go nuts again.

mines all fucked up the ass too

at first it started off saying that i had a max medic playtime of around 5 hours, now suddenly i have - points as a scout and around 22 captures or something for the 20 minutes i have logged as a heavy

but on the bright side, i am down to the 4 impossible pyro achievements without farming

This is not entirely your teams fault. As a heavy you should be watching your six often. It's silly to watch heavies blindly FIRE DA GUN AT MAN NEVER STOP SHOOTING and never take a quick glance behind them. It takes less than a second to whip around and whip right back. You cant put the entire blame on no one spy checking, you have to watch your own back. In addition, accusing no one of spy checking in itself is a bit ludicrous. As Zen stated, a good spy only gets checked when they fuck up.

    EDIT: Roflin' at PikaPuff's pic.

No shit, captain. But the Heavy should not be the only person trying to kill that very obvious spy running straight past 2 Pyros to the Medic. There's not really a whole lot I can do for the team if I'm spending more time looking back than forward, which is what ended up happening.

Learn to balance both. You have to watch your back regardless, you're the prime target for spies.

Was playing on a pub on Turbine this morning, and I was the most chicken shit medic you have ever seen. Only Ãœbering to a certain point then retreating, healing everyone rather than main attackers and generally acting like a pussy.

    But it paid off.

    16943 healing in one life.

Then the icing on the proverbial cake was healing some Pyro as they earned an achievement and unlocking my Ãœbersaw. I will still play Medic more often, as I find it most enjoyable, but at least I can dip my finger into other pies.

Plus come Heavy update everyone will love me if I keep playing Medic til it calms down.

Admins can activate The Hunted mode now. I have not tested it, hopefully it won't crash the server. When it is active auto team balance is off so that you can balance the game out if it is slanted too much one way or another.

    Today was very good day!

Inspired by this thread and the blog about the Heavy's design philosophy, I picked up the trusty ol' Minigun, and, with the help and healing of Mouse, lay ruin to Goldrush. Together we paved a path of glorious destruction in the name of Sasha.

Once he left, though, it started to go a bit downhill. Not so much because of his absence, as the Medics who stepped up to replace him were quite competent, but because NO ONE FUCKING SPY CHECKS ANYMORE. If we have three Pyros, there's really no excuse for a single spy to successfully infiltrate our base and kill the snipers, medics, and heavies therein every fucking time. I'm pretty sure all our Pyros were the bandwagon-jumpers with the new patch, because I can't imagine PA's established Pyros letting a Spy get away with hiding in the same spot every time, and completely ignoring him when he's 4 feet away.

After that, at least, things picked up a bit. I'm finally competent with Sniper(only took 25 hours of playtime...), and now I have a Backburner.

But still...ugh. Even bad Pyros spy check.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha... Oh my god... I was that spy... Oh jeebus... lololol, I beat my fucking backstab record there! It wasn't until you jumped off the edge chaingunning my hiding spot that I stopped getting loads and loads of backstabs there. Oh jeez... Ha ha ha ha... I'm sorry.

Edit: Hunted looks awesome, who decides who's the hunted?

medic is a most fulfilling class, but when theres a guy in front of me i want to kill him. it takes everything i have to run away. most of the time they will try and hunt you down anyway, so getting that ubersaw into their sternum is pretty awesomely fun.

Actually, I see some sort of an issue with Hunted, but maybe it's fine, I've never played TFC so I don't know how it goes.

I was always under the impression that Spies and Snipers gobbled up Soldiers and Heavies, isn't this kind of slanted towards the assassins?

edit: I mean, if the bodyguards just got scouts as well it would seem to make a little more sense, but maybe I'm missing something?

It looks pretty bias towards the attackers.

The soldiers/heavies/medics will get picked off easily by snipers while the pyros roam around freely with no sentries to keep them in check.

We won't know till we try it. Take gravelpit as an example though. Snipers and would be able to delay your advance out of spawn, and pyros and spys would be able to harass you on the ground but they can't have medic support and they can't have ubers. Once the Hunted team gets a presence on the point the assassins would have a hard time dislodging them. You'd have at least 3 heavies, 3 soldiers, and 3 medics.

That's a pretty crazy amount of firepower and survivability.
