I figured that many of you gents are of the discerning type when it comes to purchasing items, so I was curious as to what I should look for as far as a nice, durable bi-fold wallet. Having a bi-fold is a fairly important detail, because for whatever reason I hate having a lot of bulky stuff in my pockets, so tri-folds bug the hell out of me. Also, I'm looking for something a bit more durable than fancy, as it will be taking a moderate amount of abuse.

It's like a rubbery type thing and appears to be pretty damn durable. I haven't had any issues w/ it. It might be a tad thicker than normal bi-folds though.

Mine is not embossed, just black leather.
its pretty big and has a lot of room, and its very comfy to keep in the back of my jeans. with my old one i usually got bothered sitting on it, but this one i dont notice.

And before you dismiss it, I thought I would never stop using a wallet, but my mom bought me one for my college graduation and pressured me until I started using it, and I love it now. I keep it in my front pocket, which keeps me from having to check my back pocket every time I get up (I still did for awhile, but I got over it).
Its basically just a money clip with a backing that can hold cards. I never had any pictures in my wallet since high school anyway, so the loss of pictures was no big deal.
2) I have a Fabio Corti that I bought in Nordstrom for about $50. Just find one you like that isn't too expensive. Wallets aren't really made to hold up much after a year (they will, they'll just be beat to shit).

It cost me 11 dollars.
At first, the thing would cause cards to snap due to pressure from my bum bending them while I was sitting down. There was also black marring on most of the cards. After breaking it in however, I don't see why I'd get another one as I'm still using it to this day.
I guess if you were to force the break in period, it might be the most dependable wallet you've ever owned.

But it's got a separate pull out thing to hold your ID and a couple cards, so if you don't need to take your whole wallet you just slide that out and go.
Best wallet I ever had was purchased at the local Renaissance festival. It'd be a pretty big hassle if all you wanted was a wallet, but if you tend to go to that sort of thing anyway, pick one up there.
How long will they last?
The original wallet lasted in the owners pocket for over 5 years. With normal wear they will last for 2 to 3 years.

Ducti, I think the brand name is. Stylish, durable, easily cleanable, and it even came with some extra tape to make repairs on the fly.
Also: TaGuelle, I am the same way, I keep all my stuff in the front... mainly because I'm paranoid, but also because I can't stand sitting on a wallet, no matter how thin it is.
It definitely can be a pain, and it results in them wearing out faster (not to mention, wearing out pants too).

I put my wallet in my back pocket when I wear slacks/jeans for work, but put it on the side on my cargo shorts on weekends and such. It's just a matter of where the pockets are.
As long as your wallet isn't Costanza big it doesn't really affect you.
Yeah, it is a little longer/wider so it can have two sets of credit cards/etc per side. But it's very thin.
If you need a wallet that can carry a lot, but won't bulk up your pocket, it's great.

I've been looking for a new wallet, but the idea of a small money clip that I can keep in my front pocket, instead of sitting on something all day, is starting to appeal to me. The only thing is a lot of the ones I've seen online only have room for like, 2 cards, and I need room for like 4 or 5 (yes, I need to carry around those specific cards).
I can't tell if you are against ordering something, or having it be "As seen on TV." If its, the former then they sell them at Walgreens, if its the latter, I can't help.
But mine holds at least 5 cards comfortably. Right now, its holding my license, a debit card, an (expired) library card, an old blockbuster and my casino slots club card. I also frequently have my student ID in there as well, with no problem.
It's mainly the latter, as my parents always ragged on TV-sold items (shite quality, break quick, etc.). I guess I have a bit of a bias. But I do suppose that anecdotal evidence is better than none. How long have you had yours, and is it holding up well for its age? I have no qualms with ordering something online, I'm just a bit cautious to buy something "from TV" (especially when the commericals are as corny as the one they display on the site. You have to admit that it's bad :P ).
Mine is a tri-fold, has two pockets, and tons of slots for cards along with an insert for pictures that I don't use. I got it for four dollars(Had to haggle the guy down from ten, but thats Mexico), and it's still in great shape.

I'll keep looking through Fossil's wallets, but this one seems similar to what you described. The description says it has "10 credit card slides and a removable ID card case" so they may still offer one like you have.
Well, admittedely, I've only had mine for a few months now, however my dad has been using his for a year I believe. I really don't see anything going wrong with it, since its just a single heavy piece of metal.
